To the family of Corpsman Swink, especially our N4M sister: my heart and soul go out to you during this time of sorrow. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

May Mary the most merciful Virgin Mother of God, kindest comforter of them that mourn, commend to her Son the soul od this His servant, that through her maternal intercession, he may overcome the dread of death and, with her as guide, joyfully reach his longed-for home in the heavenly fatherland.

Prayer at the Death of a Child
Lord Jesus, I place myself in your hands. Be with me and my family and friends as we mourn the death of the son we so loved.
Help us to stay close to you and to one another as we struggle each day to accept the challenge of living without Grant. May he be always at your side to share in the light and glory of your eternal life, happiness and peace.
Psalm 41 Prayer (Proper 7B).

Remember us, gracious God when we are lonely and depressed and support us in the dark night of grief and despair, for your love is faithful and you do not forget your broken ones. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord.

Saints of God, come to his aid!
Come to meet him, angels of the Lord!
Receive his soul and present him to God the Most High.

May Christ, Who called you, take you to Himself;
may angels lead you to Abraham's side.
Receive his soul and present him to God the Most High.

Give him eternal rest, O Lord,
and may Your light shine upon him forever.
Receive his soul and present him to God the Most High.

We commend our brother, Corpsman Swink to you, Lord.
Now that he has passed from this life,
may he live on in Your presence.
In Your mercy and love, forgive whatever sins he
may have committed through human weakness.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Bless you and your family
with love
DeAnna

t. :) SHIP 6 DIV 946--my son's recruiter called often to check on him and see how he was doing. I think it just depends on the recruiter and what his relationship with his deppers is. Alex waited almost a year before he was able to leave (to get into his school, not by choice).

Here I am not happy with my sailor for the very large tattoo he now has on his body as of today...but then I realize, I have him here on earth with me to love, be irritated at, laugh with, cry with and talk to him just about any time I want and, God willing, feel his arms around me in a few weeks....I realize that the family of Corpsman Swink would do anything to be irritated at their sailor one more time as I was with my son today............this military life is putting my life much more in perspective...God bless the Swink family and all the military of this great country of ours!

Michimom, I am so glad you are getting to spend time with him. I hope you get more time tomorrow.

Teachertoo- I know exactly what you mean. My daughter is 20, she is homesick as well. And when I heard this news I cried and cried. It is just so sad. I had to stay off this site most of the day. I had to try to get my mind off of it. I still have a sick feeling in my stomach and have had all day. I will continue to have this family in my prayers.

I did accomplish cleaning out my craft closet :) And I am going to see my sailor on Friday, I can't wait to see her.

Just a quick hello from Barnes & Noble while my new sailor is looking for a magazine. So great to visit with him!

It is so heartbreaking to hear that someone has lost a child. My thoughts and prayers will be with them. Pray For Peace!

Thanks Lala! :) It's still so weird not being able to just call and check on him when I need to. Hopefully he will call this weekend :)

Sash Sistahs, please add a very special family to your prayers. A N4M's mom lost her son Thursday in Afghanistan. He was a Navy Corpsman attached to a Marine division and he had only been in Afghanistan for 6 weeks. When I read this I began to cry. It breaks my heart.

t. :) SHIP 6 DIV 946 - I haven't heard of a recruiter calling once they left for boot camp. Maybe he is one who just wants to see how things are going or he could have dialed the wrong number. I would think if it were important he would have left a message. Try him again on Monday, but I really wouldn't be concerned about it.

Michimom, I am so happy for you. I know you will have a great time with your sailor. Get lots of hugs and tell him all the Sash sistahs are very proud of him for staying focused and accomplishing his goals.

Bobbi Ray, she classes up in the next few days. She has a very short A school only 3 weeks I think. Of course you know how things can change, she could be there another 6 months lol. When she left GL they told her that her A-school graduation would be Aug 25th lol. They were so wrong, and didn't figure in any time for indoc, ATT, or AWAT classes.
