Doesn't he go into bootcamp soon? As long as it doesn't happen before then, doesn't she want a big wedding and all that stuff? I have my fingers crossed for ya...I will see if my sailor can check on yours, and can see how she is doing...If she is ever feeling lonely or needing someone to talk to(big brother) all she has to do is find him. He would be there for her like a friend or brother would.

I agree, something in the water. I am so worried that mine will get married way too soon just because she is lonely and homesick. And he is going to see her for Labor day weekend. That don't even really know each other :(

I think the big package (A) comes with the DVD and the year book. The DVD is supposed to take 4 to 6 weeks to arrive and the yearbook 6 to 8 weeks to arrive. I am hoping to get the DVD this week :) I can't wait to watch it will all of our family who didn't get to go. I should charge admission and use the money for a ticket to Pensacola lol, jk I am sure I will be crying all over again.

sorry to hear that all your kids are feeling the homesickness. Maybe by coming home at this point, will be the thing they need. Sometimes, when these kids come home, they really feel the change they have gone through and although home will always be HOME, the friends and the places they used to find fun will all of a sudden not look quite the same as they remembered. At least this is what happened to my son's father once he started coming home on leave. Coming home could be a good thing, so they can see that they really are not missing as much as they thought. It is important to just get through the school but also, look around for friends. Yes, school is temporary, but the navy is not and most times, these kids will wind up meeting up with many that they have gone through school with in various places, so no time like the present to get to know the "family". I was amazed at how many of my husband's midshipman buddies we always found ourselves bumping into wherever we were stationed. Sometimes, in the beginning, it was like living amongst a fraternity! Even today, my son's father still gets together with many we met during those earlier years.

Gigi...was the DVD included in the large picture pack or did you have to order it separate?

Bobbi Ray- no she didn't get her chit. She will be phase 3 Tuesday after labor day and that is why she didn't get it. They said only if it was an emergency. She is pretty sure she can get one for the next weekend but it is a shorter weekend and means come in on Friday night and fly back out on Sunday morning very early. She was going to take her car back but she will be finished with A school by the end of September and not knowing where she will be going just seems crazy to take her car that far for less than a month. The good thing is she has made a few friends and she has a couple girls there that she knew at boot camp. She has been out to the mall and stuff and to the beach and out to dinner several times with a group of them going. I am not sure why she is so homesick. But I really look forward to seeing her.

Hi ladies,

I thought I'd just comment on the homesickness thats going around. I'm in SC with my husband and while we aren't homesick (because we have each other actually here) it seems as though a lot of the sailors here are. I'm not sure what is is like at other A schools, but I've heard quite a few of my husband's friends saying that "so & so said he isn't here to make friends...just get through school and get on with his life" so it seems as though some have an attitude of "this is only temporary" and making friends isn't important because they won't be around soon. which is really sad because it's so incredibly to have friends going through the same thing (we've all learned that!!) ...we've been here for less than a month & I've already made some great friends with the other wives here. We've also had a lot of sailors that went to bootcamp with my husband over for lunch or dinner.

My suggestion...try to link up your sailors! I know most probably don't want to get set up with friends by their mom, but why not? It could be incredibly helpful just to have a friend to talk to or go to chow with.
