Goodmorning all from BEAUTIFUL North Carolina... We got home last night about 10pm. Took 13 hours but the truck did fine the whole way and used almost a tank less gas to come home than to get there. Who would have know having a bad rearend would make you use more gas? Anyway, very glad to be home. It doesn't even feel like we had a vacation. Too much stress.

We are hoping our sailor gets to come home for Labor Day weekend as well and if not We will do our best to go to Pensacola to see her. She should be phase 3 by then but we are over the 200 mile limit so she filled out a CHIT, hope she gets it. :)

Peaches- did you tell him Duh!!!! lol

Teachetoo- That is so sad, I have never been able to understand why so many people feel the need to drive when they have been drinking. A young life taken way too soon. I will keep him, his family, and your school in my prayers. And no DVD yet. I was told it could take 5 or 6 weeks.

Happy Sunday, ladies,

Got a phone call from my son yesterday! He's still in RCU at GL and, while he thought he might be out of it this past week, the captain in charge there is going with the standard 6-week recovery time after surgery before he can be declared fit for duty. My son is kind of bummed about that, since he says he feels back to normal now, but that's the way it is. He sounds bored, but his spirits sound good and under the circumstances, I'll take that! Meanwhile, he's studying and he's gotten to be an expert at shining his boots.

Since he doesn't have much left to do, he may not be assigned to a new division and may not do PIR, but just move on. And, since his slot for nuke school has passed, he may be in a temporary holding unit (THU) for a while--weeks or months. He's not too happy about that, but as he put it, he's getting paid and getting credit for his time--he just won't be advancing as quickly as he would like. I am hoping he'll get to do PIR, because it seems a shame to miss it, but . . .

He will find out more info around 8/24--just about a month after his original PIR date! Maybe PIR as soon as 8/27 (yikes--without much notice) or 9/2--or not.

Once he's in THU, he will have liberty and will be able to have his cell phone, so at least we'll be able to communicate. And, since we're only about 5 1/2 hours away, we could come visit him for a long weekend!

I still kind of feel of part of his 7/23 PIR group and I know he grew close to some of his shipmates in his division. I just hope he can feel enough of a part of the team so they all work well in firefighting and battle stations.

lol, dustins girl! I'm looking at all the animal shelter sites so I'll keep you posted on what happens first, the puppy or the baby! My daughter just said, "oh, Mother!" when I told her!
