Good morning! Lala...I was just thinking the same thing yesterday about missing letters! It is wonderful to get phone calls, and we have been able to Skype a few times, but seeing his handwriting on paper was really special!
Your little girl must look amazing in her uniform!
Hope all is well for everyone. I've been going thru an empty nest thing pretty bad...I really didn't think I would feel like this so either my daughter has to have another baby or I need a new puppy!

lol. So I have a confession to make. I ate some of those golden oreos yesterday. I haven't had oreos in I couldn't even tell you how long. When our sailors were in boot I was on a diet so I lived through you guys. lol. But wow. They tasted so good! lol

It is amazing what you can fit into one of those boxes lol. It helps to have such a small kid you can roll t-shirts and cami's up small enough to fit into a toilet paper roll lol. But the problem with the shorts and jeans I sent is they don't fit her. She gain 9 pounds in muscle and now can't fit into those size 2's lol.... poor thing :)

Good evening Sistahs, I hope everyone is doing well this evening. Lala, I am glad the truck is back. I hope it is truly fixed!. I agree with you about the letter writing. I miss it and I miss stalking the mail carrier. Now I am spending time in the line at the post office mailing packages of clothing, etc. I am getting really good at stuffing those flat rate priority mail boxes. Take care everyone.

Good evening ladies. Do you all miss getting letters as much as I do? lol. I am going to start writing letters to my daughter again. I think she can still use the encouragement and I think it will help me as well.

Lynne, I wish we could have met somewhere in the middle for lunch or dinner. All the vehicle problems took over almost all of my plans. I have been in FL for almost 2 weeks and have been to the beach 1 time :(

The truck is fixed and in the driveway. Whoooo hoooo We finally got the call at 4:15 and they said if we paid cash they would take $100 off the nearly $1000 dollar total. It is not easy getting that much cash together when atm and debit cards have a 300 a day limit. But we did it. I am all about saving the extra 100 bucks lol. We have decided to stay an extra day just so we can make sure the truck is really running good. They had to replace the rear end. Plus the boat is still on the boat lift at the dock and not drivable. We have a family member bringing his little john boat over in the morning to tow ours back to the boat ramp. Then in the afternoon we will be loading everything up and leaving very early Sunday morning to come home. I can't wait to be back in my own bed :) I hope everyone's Friday the 13th was filled with happy events.

KS mom do call me, we can chat :)

ksmom, I have no doubt that your son will make it just fine...I really do. They are a couple and a team now though. She as a Navy wife will have a rough road, for sure. I am hoping for the best...believe me, I have never liked one girl my son has brought home...lol...not one, so I get your displeasure. I think you are doing a nice thing by finding them furniture and helping them out. I wish and pray for this all to be the right thing in the end. Hard to take, as they are so young...wonderful things can and do happen to the "weaker link" when the dynamic between the two is right....and that is what I am praying for. I want this to succeed because I don't want your son to have a broken heart.

ksmom,
Remember the week of battlestations? We all lit candles for ALL of our kids...and nothing has changed. Some of our kids are now doing things their own way, and it is STILL a joy to hear who is doing what...and how they are going about starting their lives. We all supported these mothers and their kids.

Try not to compare your situation against another situation. Try to be happy for these mothers and their kids who are moving through what they have to move through...You could have had to deal with more devastating news, trust me.

It will work out ok as long as you all as a family, come together to support this young couple and move beyond what you all wanted...and focus now on what IS. Your son is moving his life ahead, he is a navy sailor...he is classing up...he is becoming a man on his own accord...I think that sounds just as wonderful as all the other news here...I for one am happy to hear the good news!!

Good Lord Lynn. lol. You have me wanting lobster and clams so bad now. lol. I'm gonna have dreams about it all. haha :-) KS mom, I really hope for the best for you son. Did you guys go to their wedding? She just may surprise you. (I'm hoping). But like I said before, it's gonna take a strong person to make it through a relationship like that. I would encourage her to get involved in as many groups on base as she can. Just like we did. It's so much harder otherwise.

ahhhh that clam chowdah...and clam fritters, lol. and clam stew and hell, just the clams! lol...I miss them. I miss the lobster too. There is a place down here that just opened..called boston seafood, HAHA...and it is like I am home again. Really good.
lala, hopefully, your daughter will stay engaged for a good long time. sorry you did not have a good time with having the trouble with your truck. its been hectic here with my son starting school already...a new school and in 7th grade! not happy that I have to leave for work before he leaves for the bus, but I guess its another lesson on stepping back and allowing the progression.
My other son is starting school on Monday...and life down here is HOT.

Ruthann, happy belated birthday! You know what I really miss about new england? the steamers and the mussels...I have not had those in such a long time! Speaking of San Diego, we used to go to ensenada where you could get pitchers of margaritas, lobters and tortillas with refried beans!! I always found that to be so funny! beans and lobster! lol But it was GREAT. this place was right on a cliff overlooking the ocean...baja california...birds parots or something flying free and if you ordered a shot there, they woiuld pour it in your mouth and shake your head and then sort of pound their palm down on top of your head...oh yeah, you either would always remember that or never remember! HAHA
