Thanks michimom, my parents anniversary as well. Must be a very good day to get married. It will be a very small outdoor ceremony but it should be nice and we are looking forward to it for sure. I still have to find something to wear lol. So how close did you come to my house on your way to Charleston? I bet you were very close. The very first time I ever saw the ocean I was 11 years old and it was at Folly Beach :-) Glad you had a good time despite the rain.

Binker's mom, I bet you will be going right through my area as well when you go to Charleston. If so let me know, especially if you will be making a stop near the Asheville, Hendersonville area. You need some ribbons for this special occasion :-) Yep, I am still making them lol. Miss you all very much. Just think about how much time we all spent on here talking just a year ago. We were for sure counting down the days :-)

Today was the last day of school for our kids here at home. I hope you all have a wonderful summer and if anyone comes near my area and would like to stop for lunch or dinner let me know :-)

Hey Sistahs! I'm so slow on getting the one year taken care of. The last 6 weeks of school are just so lousy with testing, seniors, make up days, computer theives, finals, etc, etc, etc! Of course I was late making it to the group to start with so what's new with the tardiness!

Getting ready to head for Charleston next week for Binker's Power School Grad. Have two Nukes now since Binker found his Lady Love in his class. She was at basic also. They almost ran off and got married in Feb but couldnt get out of school in time to get a license so that didnt happen.

They tested for E5 in March and that blew my mind. They were told they wouldnt get it because they didnt know enough yet but it was good to have the attempt on their permanent records (how about that for a school reference?). I didnt make E5 for 4 1/2 years! and they tested at 9 months.

They finish Power School on Jun 17 but are going on hold for a loooonnnnngggg time. They may be on hold for 8 months. They both requested Ballston Spa for Prototype so we will be a nice little train hop away (provided I get to move up here to NY instead of having to stay another year in KY). We shall see.

So, that's all the news I have. It has been a strange year indeed. Sometimes I wonder how my poor mother made it through three kids going through basic and tech school with only a few phone calls every so often.

Ya'll ladies take care out there! I'll be watching your 6 as we used to say in the air force. We'll catch ya on the flip side!

JLC, hang in there.  I too can appreciate missing my sailor, even though we text every so often and we usually Skype once a week.  I guess we did our job as moms right since our birdies have left the nest on to great things, but it still is painful at times.

I did miss you all while we were on a whirlwind weekend trip to visit our sailor.  We arrived in Goose Creek (Charleston), SC on Friday about 6 pm (24 hours after leaving home), and got home last night around 10:45 pm.  Yes, googlemaps was correct when it estimated travel time--14 hours in the car.  Not great, but not horrible, either.  Our drive down was full of pounding rain and clouds--at one point, we could barely see where we were going.  For such a brief visit, we did have fun.  Visited Patriots Point and Ft. Sumter, did a bit of a walking visit in Charleston, went out to eat (our sailor treated us to dinner a few times--what a sweet young man he is!), and spent Sunday at Folly Beach with some of our son's nuke buddies.  Now we are sore and sunburned.  Ouch.  I had forgotten how intense that southern sun is, especially when all we have gotten for the last month and a half is rain, rain, rain.

Even though it wasn't a short trip, it was definitely worth it.  At least we will have a bit more time with him when we go to his Power School graduation in August.

Lala, congrats on the upcoming wedding!  June 25 should be a lucky date for you--that's my parents' anniversary!  :)

Hello my Oreo sistas...miss you ALL..thought about you all this past year. My year has gone well, my son is growing up and coming to terms with what he wants in life...my youngest son is growing and becoming a teen which I am not looking forward to! lol. (he asked me if it was ok to "date" ...) lord, give me strength.  for the record, the answer is no.

I miss you all...as I start the summer months, I am reminded of the wonderful summer I had last year with you all!  I am ready ladies...If you are here, I will be with you....I so love the strong moms who watch over their strong and gutsy, amazing Kids!  Love you all!!!

JLC. I totally understand the shy part. It is so tough to open up to people and many really dont understand the emotions we have been thru this past year. So thankful you were able to open up on this site. Good luck to you and God bless.

I still have 2 teens at home but I still miss my daughter so much. And, like you my whole world revolved around my kids. And like your family, mine thinks it is no big deal because I get to talk to her. I dread like the plague the day her ship goes on tour. I will be a basket case. And in 1 more year both of the teens left at home will be gone at the same time or very close to it. They are both Jr's in high school, one going away to college and one to the Navy. I really wish there was a Navy Mom group around here. I have only met 2 other moms from this area and they don't seem real interested. I think missing my sailor is one of the reasons I am still on this site every day answering questions on all of the PIR group pages and helping others get through the bootcamp experience. I wish all of you lived close to me, that would be awesome :-)

JLC -I have a husband and a dog at home, a daughter and her family who live 20 minutes away and I still walk around this house wondering where the boy went. I did go to the shelter and got a 2nd dog...it did help. I'm sure there is a niche for you, and you will find it! I also have a So. Calif. Navy for Moms group who meets a couple times a month!  Maybe you could start one in your area! I'm sure there are others who feel just like you do.  We meet at coffee shops 1 time a month and then for dinner another time a month. I found them on this site. It is wonderful support.!
