I think that if they really want to get married they should at least wait until after A school when they find out where they will be based. My guy brought it up when I was there for PIR but I think we should wait a little while. We've been together quite a while so I'm thinking that a little while longer won't hurt us any. I wish the other sailors that aren't waiting the best of luck though. Especially the soon to be wives. Moving somewhere new and then having your sailor ship out will be extremely hard. But it has been done. It will just take strong individuals and a strong relationship.

Hello Queens, I finally recovered from PIR and the 12 hour drive plus stops to and from PIR.It was all worth it though. What a wonderful ceremony and so great to see all our young men and women. It was good to meet most of you at the M & G.

Lynne, I missed you on skype. I did not get to stay for that. I am glad you are still with us. I am so excited for your son. It sounds as though he is all set up and heading into some exciting times. Good for him
Peaches- My prayers are with you and your family.
I wish I had something brilliant to add to the marriage discussion, but I think that all you wise women have said it all.
If any of you have Sailors at Great Lakes for A school, just a suggestion... If you haven't already sent the phone, etc. make sure you send it so that they have to go and pick it up at the post office. I waived the signature, thinking it would be helpful, and paid for overnight delivery of the phone... It got to the post office as promised on Thursday, but my son has not received it.... He has checked the mail several times and still nothing... Just a suggestion based on my experience... Take care everyone.

hello queens, I couldn't stay away lol. We had a good first day, we visited with family all day and got in the pool this evening. The pool water is way too warm and the beach is covered in seaweed but I got some awesome pics of the sunset. I will try to post one asap. My daughter couldn't believe some of our guys are getting married. She wanted to know who so she could try to talk to them but I told her they are not in Pensacola. She said she doesn't know how they can want that right now. Everything is changing so fast for them. The good news for her is she is already finished with in-doc and classes up tomorrow. A-school is only a little over 3 weeks. This is happening very fast for her. I was hoping she would be in Pensacola for a couple of months or more. Well, anyway, time to go and have fun I hope everyone has a great evening.

Hey Emma and Bolly!
I agree with what you have to say. Jeff and I were seperated for 6 months before we got married (OTS) and 6 months after we got married (tech school and job start for me/ job finish prior to move for him). The AF didnt let us bring spouses unless there was a certain amount of time for the deployment and tdy's usually dont cover that type of expense or authorization. That's why we got seperation pay. And we didnt have instantaneous ways of communicating at that time. And we've lived apart for the last 4 years because of the way Target screwed us. In fact, I'm getting ready to head to SC to take stuff to Alex and then head to Louisville for school to start for this year. YUK!!!

the rate is the job and the E-xx is the rank. Rate covers what they do, rank covers how much authority and pay they get.

KS mom, has he told his officers over him in SC that he was getting married? The reason I ask is that on the Nuke for Moms site they had a discussion about how they really discourage the boys from getting married during their A school and power school training. Also, he may have a hard time transferring from his current "singles" dorm into a married dorm. Just a thought that he may want to talk to them at the school before he gets married.

eachertoo, I can feel that relief from your post and it feels good to read this! So glad to see much of that relief coming from all of you. Taking things a bit slower now, accepting much of their new beginning of this stage of the journey. Catching up on some sleepless nights, perhaps? lol

Lala...so glad to hear you made it to florida!! Your daughter is on dog duty?? Now, is that walking a dog or something? LOL....I am clueless, lol...dont know if that is a real dog or something they call "dog duty" so forgive my ignorance here ! HAHAHHA!! Lala, I stopped into the group 9-10-10..posted something for them, I think it was well received. Quite a few of the ladies contacted me, so I think it helped. You can see what I wrote on my page...

So, here is an update on my son; he takes his assessment tests on Monday and then his advisor will enroll him in the right classes based on how he does....and he starts classes on the 16th. He is still looking for a part time job to keep him in gas money and all, but he will be living home for the next two years as he gets his core classes done at the community college, then he will transfer and finish up at University of Central Florida...He's happy about this solid direction.. the hardest thing before he went to bootcamp was trying to figure out a direction...so, now if he can get the job at Walmart down the road (meat dept, LOL) this will be a perfect setting for him...everything within 5 miles of home...perfect, right? Keep your fingers crossed!

Hi ladies, I am connected :) but this old computer is so ssssllllooooowwwwww. Don't expect to be on here much but I will check in daily. My daughter is on dog duty this weekend so she can have next weekend off. She has very bad allergies right now and we have heard that there is mold on her floor but supposedly not in her room. I hope they fix that problem very soon. Well I am off to the store and then back to our vacation rental and lounge by the pool. They are putting the boat in as soon as high tide comes in. There will a couple of very happy guys out fishing tonight I am sure. Have a good week ladies.

Mamabeth- Congratulation on the upcoming graduation of your SR. What rate did your SR get? If they are a grad &go you can give them their cell and computer while you are at PIR. If not it may take a few days before they are moved across the street. Then they will only be able to use those things in your hotel room. It is so easy to forget and play with their phone while out so as a helpful hint you need to remind them not to have it out in public. This first weekend the RDCs call this their Integrity weekend. That is why no smoking,no drinking(No matter the age) no cell phones and no driving.Try to get there as early as possible and instead of going to the visitor center, if offered, go on to Freedom hall and check in.( It was offered to us. I do not know if that was because we were so large a group or they do this all the time, but if offered go on across the street.) the line seemed shorter and those that went were able to sit on the main floor. The later you wait to get in there you will have to climb stair and be up in the balcony. That is not a bad place to be except for your 80 year old Mom may not want to climb those steps and after when everyone is trying to get to there new sailor it becomes a push and shove. so keep that in mind.So just have a great time and enjoy your weekend with them.
