Gigi I laughed so hard about the refrigerator! We stayed in a room with a kitchenetee and one off my favorite things was watching Bryan go to the refrigerator and pick what he wanted! It felt so much like when he was home!

yes, the compensation for off base housing for young enlisted married sailors is NOT nearly enough to live comfortably...too many young couples wound up in "bad" areas because the rent was cheap. He is young, he has not looked into this all too well. He needs to talk to some who are living the life that he is seeking and see where they live what they can afford and what they do without. Hopefully, he will not go through with this just yet. Once he has more senority in the military and his rate goes up he will have a better time of things but taking on a dependant when he is not exactly able to be INdependant yet, is a mistake, I fear he will live to regret.

Hello again! In the midst of all of our excitement for our new Sailors, let us not forget the two young Sailors that lost their lives this last week! Let's all pray for them and their families!

Hello ladies, I haven't been on yet because I was trying to add pictures! I'm not terribly computer literate! It was so great to meet those of you I did meet last week. I'm glad to hear that everyone has made it home safely!
Peaches, I'm so sorry for your loss! You and your family are in my prayers!
Gigi, when I saw the pictures of your son you posted, I thought boy that apple didn't fall far from the tree! He looks so much like you! A very handsome young man!

Hey, I finally found you guys! :) Got lots to catch up with. Sarah is at Corry St.... shes able to get on FB every day (so far) I mailed her box with civvies, goodies and her phone. Shes been chatting with friends and family on FB and seems really happy! I have been visited by an agent for her security clearance. He was really nice. Not sure if she is going to get it, cant really think of a reason why she woulnt but you just never know. She said if she goes undesignated because they wont clear her, she'll just be okay with it, something else should come up, or maybe she can be cleared in the same field area that requires less of a high clearance. her ASVAB is high enough that she should have options, so we'll see. But thats as much as I can ever really say about all that.

Evelyn I sent you a message on FB I am SO sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and lifting you and yours up in prayer.

It was SO much FUN to meet so many of you! I still cant decide where to hang my beautiful wreath but I'll decide any day now!

Lynn thanks for sticking with us! You are a great person!

Lala, thanks for the ribbons and all the other stuff you made. And thanks to all those who helped with that.

The "I am sailor call" Got mine at 9:15 am the morning of her bday I was SO excited I FORGOT to tell her Happy Birthday. LOL Oh and I never really got an "I am a sailor call:" What I got was " I graduate tomorrow" I was so NOT expecting a call that early that I was scared when I heard her CRYING and trying to talk through her tears.........for a split second I thought she said "I wont graduate tomorrow" OMG I had to ask her twice if she was a sailor. LOL We had just pulled out of my inlaw's drive way in Des Moines when she called... we were a block down the street at a stop sign. I told my friend to turn the car around and go back to my inlaw's. Raced into the house to tell them. Jamie took a pic of the call. I hope to find it on her FB page and put it in my album.

Liberty? What can I say about that........nothing short of incredibly amazing!!

Ruthann- So very happy Bobby quickly recovered!!! Hes a doll.

Joella. Bless your heart it was an anxious night for you and for many of us. I am SO SO happy it all worked out. I really had a STRONG gut feeling it was just a matter of a miscue with communication and that he was going to graduate.

Well, I'll check in again later or tomorrow. Have a great day everyone!

Okay ladies, the car is packed and it is time for some sleep. I am not making another long drive with no sleep. It took me almost a week to get over that trip. I will be leaving about 7am but I should be on here again by Sunday. Keep your fingers crossed for my daughters old laptop to still work. It hasn't even been turned on since she left college in May lol. Have a great weekend!!!!!! Love you all :)

ks mom--BAH is the amount given when a military member has to live off base due to a lack of housing available. It is based on rank, if I remember correctly. If the cost of living is excessively higher, a suppliment is given. But I have to point out the number of E-1, 2, 3 and 4's who lived in horrendous conditions outside of Fort Knox because they couldnt afford decent housing even with those allowances. They also frequently ended up on food stamps, specifically when little people joined the happy duo! and the money doesnt go up based on the family numbers. It is based on the cost of living on the economy.
