I can't believe it has been almost a year. My daughter didn't leave for bootcamp until May 25 and was then a pushed DIV, which of course was fine with me. 7 weeks seemed so long back then but the last year has flown by. My Sailor finished C-school in Dec and has now completed TAD and is back with her command. She is doing very well in the navy and loves it. She has an apartment less than  mile from the beach and I have been there twice already. I am planning another trip to see her ASAP lol. She will be coming home the last weekend of June, Phil and I are getting married :-) I miss talking to you all and wish we were all here more often. I am still on this site on a daily basis, helping other moms and family members survive the bootcamp experience and of course still making ribbons. I hope all of you are doing well, I will never forget all you did for me <3

Hello ladies,

Wow it's been a year today since my son left home a young man and has now become a US Navy sailor.  What a year can bring.....  He is doing really well and happy to be in the place in life that he is, paying his own bills and taking care of himself.  I wanted to thank you all again for helping me through those few weeks not so long ago when every week we waited for a phone call or stalked the post man.  My son is not to far from us so he does come and visit when he can, he is set to finish C school in June so I'm hoping to go and cheer him on. After that he might be going to Japan, I'm not sure for how long but he seems vary excited, what is funny is it's the same base my father was on when he was a Marine....Hope all our Sailors are doing well and are getting where they want to be in life.

Hi Ya'll! It has been a long while for me also. Been doing what I can do to get the youngest in the Navy. That in itself is a story. He had a compound fracture and also was on ADHD medicine while in High School. Got the release from Ortho with his blessings. No Charge. Said his Dad was military and thanked him for his future service. The Phych Dr. who prescribed his meds for ADHD. Never saw her just dealt with the front office charged us $375.00 and we had to wait for 6 weeks to get the letter because records were archived. It was a 3 line letter. So hopefully by the end of May we will have a date from MEPS as to when he will go in. Chris is doing great. He is still at GLs. Graduates A school on May 3rd. He has been staying in the top 5 of his class. So now he waits for orders for C school. The hold may take up to 3 months before he leaves for either SD or Norfolk. C school will probably be anywhere from 6-9 months. His wish list is the West Coast. There is a BIG possibility that we will be moving from ATL to Ft Bragg NC this summer so Norfolk is what I am hoping for.I am trying to put together a trip to see him in GL over Memorial Day. It has been since Christmas. We do Skype on Sundays when he is not off with friends in Chicago. No future Mrs. in the picture. It has been great reading all the post and catching up on all our Oreo Sons and Daughters. You are absolutely right. It is amazing what a year can bring. We are about a month shy of a year when this group was formed. I am so happy to see that all are doing well.It seems that a good bit have gotten married since July. Looking forward to celebrating those grandkids with you when the time is right. Everyone stay safe!!! Big Bad Storms heading our way again tonite. The Golden Retriever will go NUTS!!!

Hello, all!  I'll repeat what Ruthann said:  sorry I've been MIA, but I do think of you all so often!

We skyped with our sailor on Sunday while the family was together at my sister's.  He got to show everyone his room and it really was fun to share the holiday with him that way.  We go to see him on Memorial Day weekend--we are so looking forward to that!  So, Bobbi Ray--we have a countdown, too--just no wedding.  LOL

Take care, everyone!

So true Ruthann, it is crazy how much can change in one year.

My Sailor is home for Easter. I will get to see her later today and she is spending the night here tonight. They actually came home for a memorial service for Nathans sister. They are spreading her ashes today. It is still such a hard and sad time for all of them.

Next week on Tuesday I will be in VA Beach for most of Spring Break. Heading back home on Saturday. Can't wait to be at the beach with my Sailor. If anyone lives near there and would like to meet for lunch please let me know.

He is getting married in exactly 30 days-the countdown begins...He will be flying home around the 16th..I can't wait to see him..I miss him so much, as I am sure you all miss your sailors to. I hope all is well with everybody....Oh yeah...I'm still waiting to win the lottery...haha

I am doing okay, we didn't have any problems here personally from the storms. There were some fallen trees and power outages but most of the really bad weather was more towards the NC coastal region. We had a couple of really nice days but it looks like storms here again today. Right now it looks really "green" outside. You know like just before a bad storm. I never watch TV during the day but I think I better turn it on and check the weather.

Teachertoo, glad he is happy. I never thought I would say this but I wish my daughter had tried living together before she jumped into marriage. And he should be making enough to pay his own airfare lol.

I miss all of you. It has been a year now since Loran went to meps and joined the navy. It is hard to believe how much can change in one very long but yet very short year.
