There is an NEX - not close to the front gate, but there is one they use not terribly far from the ships/McDonald's area.  Certainly within walking distance.  (everything is).

t4inparker, my son would definitley agree with yours about change in ships.  :) He is on the second floor.  Yes, the Mustin was very nice.  When does your son get to class up?  I hope soon.  My son is enjoying his class and doing very well so far.  I will message you my son's name and message me yours back.  I'll tell my son to be looking out for him.  He said he had talked to some guys who were waiting to class up so maybe they have already met.

Joshmom - yep, my son is there too now.  One word - "sucks" is what he said about it.  Awww well, they'll get used to it and call it home soon enough.  Too bad they could't stay on the Mustin, it was a nice building.

debsproud - that is cool, funny coincident.  I'll have to tell my son that's where the Mustin is stationed.

t4inparker, my son moved to Hagl Hall yesterday.  From what he said, all the OS's were moved there yesterday.  They wanted them all in the same ship.  This ship is the first built on base so it's a step down, should I say, from where he was living.  No AC is the biggest part.  But it is supposed to get cooler there so hopefully that will help.  :)

14inparker - we have been enjoying our time.  Funny, my son will be joining the actual USS Mustin in Japan!

Joshmom - my son is on the Mustin.  I wonder if that means that he is moving too.  He probably hasn't met very many of the OS's yet, so I'll ask him in a week or two if he knows a Josh.  He'll remember bcuz his best friend back home is named Josh.

Debsproud - enjoy your time with your son while he's home.  Very excited for mine to come home in a couple of months.

I think he was about a month in?  Yes, Japan was one of his picks.

Comment by joshmom on September 11, 2013 at 9:18am

desproud, how far into A school before your soldier found out they were going to Japan?  Was that their first pick?  Just curious, thanks!

Comment by debsproud on September 11, 2013 at 9:11am

They will meet up!  All OSs have to march together to school in the mornings regardless of how far along they are in classes!  Mine graduated in August and is home on leave before heading to his first duty assignment in Japan.

MCEastcoastmom, yes, the letters are so very important.  Keep writing.  My son said that is what got him through was hearing his name at mail call.  PIR is such a wonderful, memorable time.  I wouldn't trade it for anything.  Good luck to your SR, soon to be sailor!!
