FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son graduated today as a OS,I am so proud of him. He is so excited to be on the Michael Murphy and can't wait till Sept. I can't wait tell he gets to come home from Great Lakes (hopefully this weekend).

she thinks she may be able to text or email-but coverage may be spotty.

thank you this is probably a dumb question how will you keep in touch when she in on the ocean going to japan this is so new to me my dad was army but it was easy for him to call home just not sure how this all works

Ya I thought bc was horrible-then A school wasn't too bad-but Japan is very hard to swallow. She was excited though and didn't appear too nervous as she left. I cried like a baby! We have been texting frequently but there is a 13 hour time difference-I am constantly looking and the clock and thinking what she is doing. She has meet some good people and has been busy learning her way and cleaning. Really hot and dirty work, but she hasn't complained. Good luck to your son.

wow japan is it hard for you my son hasnt left for basic yet he leaves in 28 days and feels like my anxiety is through the roof

my daughter went to Japan after school assigned to USS Tortuga. She has only been there a10 days and has not been out to sea yet, but I guess that's coming soon.

this is probably a very dumb question . but typically what kind of assignment can they get after a school. east coast, west coast , ships , etc any ideas ?????

Well I thought I was going to see my son next week,He still graduates,but being put on hold at GL till he has his interview ,the personal that is suppose to do this is on liberty& they don't know when this will happen. I hope this doesn't change his orders. I am bummed out!!!!!
