tsk4 - I am sorry to hear about what happened.  I wish for your daughter a very speedy recovery. My daughter was also a gymnast.  She went to college for a bit on a gymnastic scholarship.  Decided her body was done tho.  Where did you daughter attend gym?

Thanks everyone. She will never regain feeling in the front part of her mouth but hopefully the pain she has will lessen with time. Once home she will have physical therepy and we will revisit the pro and cons of the brain surgery. I do believe in Gods healing power also. My main concern is to get her off the strong drugs that are not helping the pain anyway. She will receive her care through Bethesda. I hate the drive but I am very lucky to live close to my parents . My Dad will help with getting her to appointments. My daughter is not allowed to operate a vehicle on her meds so we will have to provide transportation. Rita Jane - my daughter was told that they could leave hers alone but then decided not to. Her civilian surgeon said she had perfect teeth. With all the time my daughter will have I am going to suggest that she writes the story of her ordeal. Hopefully the ending will show how she moved forward and accomplished her dreams. She wanted to be a crime scene investigator. She has a college degree in criminal justice so it is a start. She was also a state champion gymnast and can at least go back to her gym and help coach to keep busy. Of course we will have to drive her.

I'm glad they didn't do my sons widom teeth, though they did say he needs to get them out within a year...I'm not sure how they make these decissions. tks4, I am so sorry for what your daughter is going through, I hope she makes a full recovery.

My daughter is starting boot camp 2/28/12 and is to go on for OS school after that. I will be interested to hear how all your new sailors are doing in A school

In my SR's 10 second phone call she threw in at the end "they are pulling out my wisdom teeth"  LOL  - i didn't get to ask any questions.  I know they are not ready to come out because she just saw the dentist.

OMG...tks I am so sorry to hear that! I hope things work out for her and she heals 100% That is so scary.

Yes and thankfully to all the new Recruits this person is no longer there. My daughter has a long road ahead of her. Brain Surgery is a possiblity that could help her. She is just wanting home to have some kind of life. She is bored silly there. It has been 10 months at Great Lakes so far. It is taking a long time for them to finish with her results for the medical discharge. They have allowed her to take leave twice to come home for the holidays. Besides her now permanent disibility from this, hopefully in 2 years I can write that she has healed and is working. Sadly now that it has been so long she doesn't want anything to do with the Navy. When it first happen she was looking forward to healing and coming back.  Too bad because she was aceing everything and was excited about just applying for Officer Candidate school.

Yikes!! That's a bit scarey. Do they pull all the wisdom teeth automatically if they still have them. So sorry for you and your daughter!

My daughter was suppose to be OS but was injured by the dentist there. She is getting a medical discharge since it was very bad. She still receives her full paycheck. She has paid her monthly college loans from her paycheck but also splurged on a nice tv and a game system. Couldn't argue with her especially since she will not be able to work for a while once she is home from there( due to her injury).

hahaha Ken: yea Navy Federal called her when we were at the Mall too!

she set up an account before leaving and she is going to have them take mony out and send it to her account here at home like my son did and as her pay rate goes up so will her transfer amount. So this first 1 I let her go she earned it!
