LaJoyce, your son is in bootcamp right now? He doesn't need any money sent to him. The Navy is taking care of everything for him, and he won't need anything like toiltries etc until he graduates. He won't have time to do any shopping now anyway. His first 3 days are going to be sleepless and lots of things to do, getting his gear, etc. The Navy will help them set up direct deposit for their paychecks, although they won't see any funds go into their accounts until week 4 or 5 of bc if I remember correctly because their first couple checks go towards the costs of their dress and digital uniforms, covers, pee coat, Ike jacket, etc. So you don't have to worry about them having money. The Navy gives them NEX cards that will cover personal need items when they need to purchase them. I'm going off info that's a year old now, but I don't think it's changed too much in that time. Hope this helps you

Kanga, yes parents can go on the tiger cruise. Your daughter should be getting info about it, or she can inquire with her command. There are forms to fill out and I believe physicals required (but don't hold me to it). Since there is limited space I would think the sooner the better as far as getting signed up. I hope this helps. I haven't gone through the process but from what I've gathered from others who have TC's are outstanding.

Hi Susan, my son got his orders 2 weeks prior to graduating A school. His "dream sheet" was Norfolk to be closer to his girl, but the Navy felt better for him to come home to CA and San Diego. It also depends on how the place in class as to where they go...the Navy will send him where he'll be used to the best that he can be. The adventure will begin....
