@Ken-55- Even though I joined this group after my son finished boot camp, you made me intrigued about the Tiger Cruise..

@WackyWaveUSN- thanks for the advice regarding sending things to my son when he's deployed. I actually was talking about when he's still in A school.

Hey y'all, will anyone be attending A school graduation at GL on 10/29? If so, please let me know.  I would love to have some pictures of my son.  Thanks!

AveryMom, UPS is probably faster while in school, but when your sailor is deployed, I have found that flat rate priority mail via USPS is the best way to ship because it won't matter how fast it gets to the military post office, it still depends on when they have a delivery going to the ship, that your sailor will get it.  The good thing about the flat rate box is that you can pack it full and not pay extra for the weight.

UPS got my son's things quick!  LOL

I rather use them than the USPS

Oh and although I have never done it you can actually go online and have free boxes and labels shipped to you and free pick up.

Where is your son stationed. I have heard that it may be awkward to get the package from ups if overseas. Plus usps is only 14.85 for a large box up to I believe 70 lbs.

I sent my son's things through UPS, not post office.  Here the post office is rarely open.  UPS is open all day, & it's convenient.  I also let my son know that his things was sent through UPS & he told me he'll check on it.

It depends on when they have enough to start a full class. Mine waited about a week. Did some other training in the mean time
