This is the final test for your SRs.  It is an overnight 12 hr drill that tests them on all they have learned and may encounter when deployed on a ship.  It takes place on the Disney-created USS Trayer, a very realistic ship that allows them to be properly evaluated in all areas.  They start in the evening and conclude the following morning with the capping ceremony.  This is where they trade their "Recruit" caps for their "NAVY" caps and they have graduated!  A very emotional time for your sailors after all of their hard work!  Later in the afternoon, you should receive the much-anticipated "I'm a Sailor" call.  These usually start around 2 pm GL time, and can last a long time.  They can start earlier or later, so we recommend that phones be available all day long...this is one call you surely don't want to miss!  Some may not get to call because of "watch", but should call the next day.  Please ask your sailor if all in his/her division passed, and post that for the others to see.

Teamwork is the name of the game.  They are divided into smaller groups and evaluated as a team in addition to individually. This is what one Chief said about BattleStations:  150-300 SRs go through a night, 3-10 of these may fail and have to repeat BattleStations with another group.  Teamwork is the key.  If the SRs keep their mouths shut, listen and focus, and perform well as a team, they should pass.

They go through with their brother division.  Up to 4 divisions can go through a night.  Sometimes only 2 (brother divisions) or 3 (brother divisions plus an 800 or 900 group) may go through.  They usually start on Thursday night the week before PIR.  There are no BattleStations on Fri or Sat nights because of Captains Cup for the PIR group on Sat, a fun athletic competition for all divisions.  They can resume BattleStations on Sun-Wed nights for as many of those nights as are needed.  They start with the lowest-numbered divisions and work up. 800 and 900 divisions go randomly.  SRs have to pass all tests before they are allowed to go through BattleStations.  Although some of you may get a frightening "scripted" call from your SR that he/she has not passed a test and "will not graduate...do not come to PIR"....please know that they are actually given until the morning before PIR to pass their test.  They then would go through BattleStations that night with the next PIR group, and be at their own PIR the next day....in uniform as a sailor but in the balcony due to being up all night.

The brother divisions (they train together and will be going through BattleStations together) for this group are:

179+180, 181+182, 183+184

928

Please ask your SRs when their BattleStations dates are and post on here and on the main board.  I will then get a schedule started.  HOOYAH!

Below is a link to a presentation that Craig (retired Navy) did for you all so you can see what your SRs will go through.

The only thing that concerns me about BattleStations is that my son is in Div 928.  I am leaving on Tuesday for Thursday PIR (05/26) because I am traveling by train.  Is there a possibility that he won't do BattleStations until Tuesday night?  At that point I'll already be on my way there; if he fails I will be on my way to Great Lakes to watch his division graduate.  I suppose I just don't understand how these things work.  He went to BC 03/28/11 but his 1-1 was on 04/11/11.  I realize P-days take up to a week but what could they have been doing the other week?  When he has his PIR, it will be day 7-4.  It just seems like a short BC.  Hate to bother you D for Megan but can you tell me why this might be??????

Thank you so much.  You are all such lifesavers on here.  I can't wait until it's my turn to help others out!!!!!

Yes, there is that possibility.  However, with such a small PIR group, let's hope that they start on Thurs night (week before PIR----as they usually do) and get it finished before then.  They could actually finish this group in just 2 nights if they go 4 divisions one night/3 the other.  Remember, even if he fails (and there is a very low percentage of them that do), he will be able to take it again.  It may have to be the night before PIR (if he goes the last night of his PIR group), where he will be in the balcony for PIR, but he would be there.  So...think positively!

Processing Days can actually take longer than a week.  They have to wait for all of the divisions to fill up in his PIR group before they start training....sounds like he may have been one of the earlier people to arrive there.  They usually do BattleStations from Day 6-5 on....

Not sure D for Megan will see this.  Did you post it on the main board too?

Never mind about the private message.  I couldn't find you under the Members tab and there's too many pages to look through! (over 2000)!

diannep:  No but your answer will do fine.  I just have so many questions; I'm very inquisitive by nature and my son is going through an experience that I know absolutely nothing about.  There are alot of things about boot camp that are going to be real hard on him and some things that he won't even think twice about.  I ask him questions (and even sent 2 questionnaires!) but as of Sunday before last (04/10) they had not received any mail so I can't get my questions answered!  Even if they start on Thursday if he's not on Thursday he won't go til Monday (the info on this page states they don't do BS on Fridy or Saturday because of Captain's Cup).  Maybe they do them on Sunday nights?

I hope that you don't mind but I need to send you a private message too.  There's something else I'd like to know.

Thank you very much for clarifying this for me.

Yes,Proud Navy Mom, I'm the one who started this discussion and put the BattleStations info up there.  I have been doing the BattleStations schedules for the PIR groups for about a year now...so the info above is what I have found since being on here.  You will find that the ladies on here (Jessica, Lala, etc) who are veterans many times have more info than the active duty guys do as far as things like this!  Because they only know their division info.  But I find that D for Megan has some great info that we are not aware of from the sailor's standpoint!

You are correct....they can resume BattleStations on Sun night, which is what I say in the info up top.  Please never apologize for asking questions....that is why we veterans are on here...to help you all through.  Nothing is too trivial...and we don't mind answering questions that have been asked before.  Our goal is to help you all through this....because it is very hard on all of us when they are in bc!

As far as finding me in "members" to private message....no need to do that.  You can click on my screenname or picture icon, get to "my page," and request me as a friend.  Then you can message me whenever you like!

Enjoy your day!

When my div went through BS21 we were the last division of the training group, and went through alone. Not a single one of us failed. From what I saw it is actually pretty hard to fail, unless you completely ignore instructions.
Were you in a 900 division?  I remember back about a yr ago, the 900 divisions went alone many times.  That doesn't happen much now....they usually go with a set of brother divisions or the 800 division.  In some cases, there has been more than one 900 division in a PIR group so they went through together.
Sorry for the delay in the reply, my phone was being stupid earlier and not letting click the link. Yes, I was in a 900 division. 927, from two years ago. I'm surprised to hear that there are sometimes multiple 900 divisions in a training group. That was why our p-days took so long to get through - having to wait to get enough recruits in to fill the division. I can't imagine waiting to fill more than one.
I have only seen it happen once or twice...and that was recent.  In fact, I think there was a recent group that had two 900 divisions and two 800 divisions....unheard of!
Any dates received this weekend for BattleStations?
Any BattleStations dates yet?  Please be asking your SRs!
Dianne, 180 has Battlestations Thursday night, 5/19 per a letter I received today.  YAY!  Thanks for tracking.
