Hello CRF, We have a daughter who is ship11 div 181.  Are you happy the graduation is on Thursday?

Hi, yes my son is that ship and division, I'm the one that called the great lakes number because even my sons recruiter wasn't sure about the date. What she told me was grad and go wasn't used as a term, but I guess was meant for those staying in great lakes for A school, she asked where my sons A school was and I told her Pensicola FL....sadly he has to fly out fri, so we only get to see him grad day...that kinda stinks, but what can you do? she said if grad was fri we'd have the weekend with him. Don't know if this helps, but you can call that public affairs number on that letter...yea they are not real fond of this site...but they shouldn't keep us guessing! heck we have to mafly, get a car, board animals, motel etc...you know? we went ahead and booked a flight car and room at ramada for wed to fri...and I sure hope her info was right. I would be so mad if he had the weekend and I had to leave...crazy makin stuff for sure.

Hi chazzys mom, Our daughter is going to A school in San Diego.  I haven't called the public affairs office yet to confirm her departure.  We can't stay even if she has the weekend in GL because our youngest graduates college on Saturday morning in NY.  When it rains it pours!  We'll be happy to get to PIR and have the day with our SR.  I'll be "almost" relieved if she has a Friday departure but secretly wish our family could be together for both graduations.  Life is funny with its twists and turns.  Hope to meet you and CRF at the meet and greet.

Hey joankf nice to meet someone in the same boat. We has already planned to fly in Wed. night but we will get little sleep the night before PIR. The only good thing is can can fly out Sat. morning in time to make our younger son's senior prom. 8^) Maybe our two SR will happenstance meet.

Chazzys mom I bielve I spoke with you on facebook if I'm not mistaken. LOL

I just hope our division stays healthy I read that many of the SRs in div 180 got sick. Some kind of stomach bug going around.

Hi CRF and Chazzys mom, 

In the "form" letter from our daughter she said "Still alive over here"  LOL but no mention of being sick. Group living can bring out the best in contagions!  I'm waiting to get my first letter from her describing things in more detail.  If you hear more details from your sons, let us know (we can't do a thing about it but send good thoughts and encouragement anyway!) I'm making flight arrangements with my family today (we have two other daughters,one who lives on her own in NYC and one who is a senior in college) We're staying at Homewood Suites in Lincolnshire.  My husband is a Consumer Reports geek and they rated the highest for suites. We'll rent a car for travel back and forth.  I do hope they all meet by happenstance.  I heard the "no fraternizing" rule is heavily enforced.  Our SR was a dual athlete in college so she has many great friends of the opposite sex! Looks like those odds will continue in the NAVY with only 15% women! Her college was 40% women.

Joankf our son too was a high school athlete, track & cross country so we will enjoy the running. I'm not sure what RTC deems as fraternizing if you meet someone and just talk. Unless they do not want SRs of the opposite sex talking. I mentioned div 180 had a lot of illness not our division. That is what I read in one mothers post. Lets just hope all our SRs stay healthy.

I too, hope they stay healthy.  Our daughter played field hockey and softball.  She graduated in 2009 so her running/aerobic training was on the decline. She'll have a chance to pick it up again in BC!  We just came off a real tough winter here in NH so her running was pretty much non-existant.  Oh well, they are young and bounce back quickly!  She said in the form letter "It's and interesting experience so far".  Still waiting on her personal letter.  Whenever I watch the videos or ppt.'s it looks so disciplined, that even if a recruit so much as talked, they'd get extra PT or latrine duty or something.  I know I'm making things up because I'll never know what it is like to be in their shoes.  I do hope they get some sort of social interaction and have a chance to meet and connect with one another.  If not, we'll do what all good parents do, we'll introduce them after graduation!  Parents of kids in sports have a way of doing that!  Now it's the military families who will stick together!

Hi all, yeah it's kinda crazy! But we'll be there wed to fri..our flight leaves at noon, but if his doesn't I may just have to stay and pay. Yes lets pray they stay healthy and hope we all get to meet....I can just see all us moms crying around the airport!

Hi, my son is Ship 11 Div 181. I am so confused about this site that I could just scream. My other son graduated from Basic 2-18-11 and I didn't know about this site then. I don't know how I feel about the graduation date. The son in A school in Pensacola wants to fly home during the holiday weekend and I don't know how long I will be in Great Lakes. If the second son goes to Groton (?) after graduation when does he have to leave?

Thank you but I have sort of figured things out. It is a huge site. The terminology is confusing and I was getting lost.

My understanding from all that I've read on the RTC (Navy bootcamp) facebook page is that all recruits not staying in Great Lakes will fly out Friday sometime unless there is a problem with seat availability then they would leave on Sunday. They could fly out as early as 2:00am on Friday.
