Thanks I found Love Rd and Cochrane Rd. Now I have and idea at least. He called his dad last night and said he was lonely. Never thought he'd admit to that. He's way out of his comfort zone but that's a good thing. He'll be forced ..I hope..to get out and meet people. Don't want him staying in his room living on the Xbox. Oh how I don't like computer/video games. No socializing anymore like we all did ...way back in the dark ages. lol
The Navy barracks is the second building in from the corner of Love Rd. and Cochrane Rd. I think the mess hall is across Love Rd.
I googled FT Meade and am trying to get an idea of where things are. I know security won't tell you much on a map but does anyone have street names so I can tell if I'm looking at the right area? FT Meade is huge. My son said he didn't have an address yet. Sorry if this question sounds stupid but I just like to know where my kids are. It's a mom thing. lol
My son reported this morning,he said all was ok. He has a room to himself but shares a bathroom. He already put himself of the..move off base list..I thought that was funny he hadn't moved in yet and was already getting on the move out list. Although he was told it would be about 8months. He's a... quiet sort of shy.type of person if you don't know him.. so hope he makes friends there. I worry can't help it.. He told me there is a refrigerator and microwave in the room can they have anything else to cook on like a toaster oven type thing etc?
Good to know clockard the holidays are really holidays.
My son was home for Thanksgiving and I sent him back with a large box of blue star homemade sugar cookies. He called last nite and he said he put them in the quarterdeck and everyone was really enjoying them. Maybe one of your kids got one !
Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. My son was the only one of the 3 kids to be home.
He reports to FT Meade tomorrow. He was suppose to report today however his sponsor called Friday and said no one will be there so report on Monday. Thought that was weird because he was scheduled to report on Thanksgiving day. Kinda makes me wonder if the had..kept..that date if he would have been told to report Monday. Hmm, maybe he wouldn't have had to use 4 leave days.. Oh well.
Angie, that's just awful. Glad everyone is ok. A fire is never ever good but one at this time of year makes it worse. You seem to make the best of a bad situation. Hope things continue to go well.
Sorry I havent been around lately On November 5th at 1 am we had a major house fire caused by a fire in our fireplace. Everyone got out safe although it will be months before we can get back in our home. The insurance company has leased a house for us and our son is coming home for Thanksgiving. Its not going to be easy to walk him through his childhood home. He actually agrued with us that we should call the Red Cross and have him get leave. We knew that wasnt necessary.
When I ran from the house I was able to grab his bootcamp graduation photo. You also think about what you would grab nearest and dearset to you if this every happened. I guess that photo was pretty darn important to me
Ive been off work since the fire, trying to work with the insurance, supplying the new house, figuring out what can be saved and what cannot and talking with contractors. Ive also been keeping busy with a group of military moms who help me send care packages overseas to those that are deployed.
The project was well underway when the fire occurred and I haven't dropped the ball. However the next step is collecting recipes and I hope you can help me. Ive attached a form with some directions Please take a moment to read it and if you can help I would really love it!
I have no idea if he is doing IA. I do know it is a small group. My son lives some town with the word spring in it but for the life of me, I can't remember the entire name. I do know after he was all settled in, he informs me that it is not the best area but he likes it LOL! In talking to him, it sounds like his job will have employments as the norm, so I might as well get use to it!
If he is looking to live urban Federal Hill, Canton, Fells Point and Locust Point neighborhoods are all trendy. Fells Pt and Locust Point appear to be more expensive. Mostly renovated row houses and some low rise type buildings.
Thanks for the info. I will ask about a sponsor. He does know where he will be working, but I don't. He and a friend will be sharing a place to live. I just like to get other people's opinions about the different areas! I guess I am asking about SAFE or safer areas. I also think traffic could be a problem when going to and from work. Those are my concerns. Yes, our son is a CTT2 and has been in Hawaii for almost three years!
