Well we all survived the earthquake now on to the hurricane   My mantra these days and I repeat it often is "the NAVY knows how to handle a natural disaster, they know how, they know how"   LOL

Jill enjoy your time with your son  My son is doing is first funeral for the honor guard on Saturday  (guess that might be contingent upon Irene)

Welcome Bonnie  My son just got to Ft Meade almost 2 weeks ago  His first duty station is there

Well how about I take Jills place ?  I am new to this group.  My daughter just got to Ft Meade on Saturday,  graduated on Fri from bc.  She is there for A school, mass communications.   I saw that she somehow managed to get a message on facebook (no phone no computer yet) that she felt the quake and it was scary.  haha...and now hurricane Irene is coming that way.  What a reception !

Have not been on in awhile. Anyway, my son works near BWI and gets off about 2. He said the traffic after the quack was horrible driving back to Ft. Meade. Missed the funeral duty chat, but my son did that while he was waiting for security clearance and actually liked it.

Clockard   I would love that   I will let you know when I book my flight   FYI my son called a little while ago and said he was selected to be honor guard.  I guess when you first arrive at Meade from CTR A school you are on holding again for a bit to get a different security clearance   Well until he can actually do his job, he is going to be honor guard.   I thought it was great. and a honor..he wasnt quite as thrilled

My son reported to Ft Meade yesterday after 2 weeks leave here at home.  He drove his truck there and picked up a A School classmate in Philadelphia  So Im officially a "Ft Meade Mom" now

Yes, they will love it! its completly different then a big wedding. Very intimate, i loved how it was just my husband and I and one other sailor who came to take picture for us.

We are going to have our reception in 2 weeks when he's finally on leave and we can make it up to where our relatives are. THen we can celebrate with everyone, but i still love the fact that it was jsut us two on our wedding, i wouldnt have changed anything (maybe getting married in a church lol but you cant win them all)
