clockard, thanks.  I would love to help when I can.  If any of your sailors would like to have a good old fashioned, mom's, home cooked meal while they are away from you, just let me know.  My Navy son has an "adopted" mom & dad in Pensacola with my sister in law's family and I would love to do the same.  My children are all over the country now, with the exception of our oldest daughter, who lives in MD and I have plenty of time to cook and bake.   We have had many family members in the Navy.  My daughter's fiance is in Hawaii on a nuke sub (and she just moved there after college to be with him) my brother and an uncle were in the Navy and my youngest son is in A school in Pensacola.

Angie, my husband took his car right away. Just needed to get decals. He loves having his car there, it gives them a lot more freedom. Of course his is broke down now lol so he relies on the other sailors.

Anyone know how soon my son can have his truck on base once he gets there?  Its actually been kinda nice having a extra vehicle at home while he is in PCola   Do you think he can take it with him as soon as he arrives or will he need to wait a bit to get settled?

@clockard   where do you live?

Hi ladies, my son is actually in A school in Pensacola, but I joined your group because I actually live in Columbia, MD, not too far from Ft. Meade.  I hope that's ok?

Hey lauren yeah you drive through the visitors entrance if it is open, if not they will either point you in that direction of the inspection or just let you through. You have to go through a vehicle inspection so you need your drivers licence and registration. They ask to open all your doors, trunck and hood of the car. (sometimes, i went through a couple times where they jsut let me go looking at me registration and licence) I never had to sign my sailor out i always just met him outside the detachment. Hope the weekend goes great! Message me if you have more questions! if i remember right phase two they have to be back at 12 everynight ? but i kknow they can get full overnight if they are in good standing with the school so hopefully thats the case!

Hello Everyone, I'll be visiting my boyfriend next weekend.  He has been in A-school at Ft. Meade for 6 weeks.  I was wondering how it works to get on the base and be my sailor's "liberty buddy" each day of the weekend.  He is in phase 2, so I already know what times he has liberty. He was mentioning that I could go through the visitors entrance at the main gate and that I would need to sign him out of the detachment. Does anybody here know how the process of retrieving your sailor works? Thanks!! :)

Northchannel- sounds like are sons are on the same schedule. I am hoping you will be one of the last to recieve the go ahead to move off base. He said they have moved a bed in his room but no matress or dresser so he is waiting to see how quick they start moving people in.
