Hi Parents:

I am from Wisconsin and my son has been at Ft Meade since September.  I would like to visit him in the spring for a couple of weeks.  Any suggestions where I could find a rooming house or cheep bed and breakfast to stay at.  Being that I would like to stay a couple of weeks, hotel nightly prices are way to much.

Thanks in advance for any help.   Laura Lee

This site seems inactive but I'll ask anyway. Has anyone sailors had issues of not receiving pkgs or any priority mailings?  I'm talking about stuff getting "lost" so to speak.

Good Morning Everyone.  I haven't been on here for awhile, but I'm Betsy.  I joined your group because I live in Maryland, about 45 minutes from Ft. Meade.  My son is stationed in Bremerton, WA and currently deployed for 8 months. My husband and I would like to open up our home to a couple of sailors who may not be able to get home to their families for Thanksgiving this year.  Since we will have other family joining us, we would only have room for 3 or 4, but I will be making a big dinner.  My brother is a Navy veteran, we have a future son in law who just got out of the Navy in August, after his 6 years as an ET on a sub in Hawaii and our youngest son is a CTT on the Stennis carrier, which is on it's way to the middle east.  Please let you sailors know that if they would like to join a Navy family for dinner, we would be honored to have them.  You can pm me if you think your sailor would like to share our Thanksgiving with us.   If there is an issue with transportation from Ft. Meade to our home in Carroll County, we could work that out on our end for sure.

My husband is actually the sailor going to Ft Meade, he has been assigned sub duty. Does anyone know how our living situation will be? We've heard that its a possibility we will live in MD and he will just go to the different bases on deployment, but the HUB as it were, would be Meade... is this true, or will we be moved to a different base, after C and F schools..? Any light anyone can shed on the subject would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks everyone! :)

Hi All.

My son is currently at MC School and we are going to visit over Memorial weekend (hopefully!)

I would love to hear any thoughts/suggestions on hotels near the Ft. Meade area since we want to maximize our time with him.

We will be flying in and renting a car.

Our Sailor loves the area and is quite happy with his living arrangements. Plenty of room.  Bigger than his college dorm!
