I am sorry I think it was United, they did say a couple of hours later that those seats probably would be hard to come by as they were moving fast.

We have a local radio geek here that I love his name is Clark Howard, he is sydicated in other cities so some of you may know him. He does a Friday flyer show with deep airline discounts that are just announced and you can also sign up for his travel alerts. You don't need to be in Atlanta to take advantage of his site. Just go to clarkhoward.com He is an advocate for many and loves to help people avoid being taken advantage of.

Today they annouced an air fare sale from Atlanta to HI. $273 round trip and you had until April 2010 to use them. My head was spinning trying to figure out how to take advantage of that offer! But we don't know Nick's report date yet and it doesn't look like his ship hangs out too much in HI so how the heck do you plan that trip?!!

How sweet Pat...shore duty orders and an apartment. You must have done something very RIGHT as a mom and look at the rewards you are getting now!!

Pat, thanks for the information on Hale Koa. I think it will be awhile before we get our chance to go but other options will be good when the time comes. Our son is an E4 but I have visions of him either living on the ship if that is an option or living with 42 single sailors in a two bedroom apartment so he can save $$$. I'm thinking they probably won't be too excited to have mom, dad and oh yes...little sister move in with them!!! LOL

I just hope my boy banks his now that he has a car and he likes going out with the boys. He will get a wakeup call when he gets out there. I told him already you should have been saving more then your spending so don't come a calling cause I'm not answering that call for MONEY. lol
Comment by Mary, Proud Mom of Nick on June 24, 2009 at 10:50pm
you got that right Gloria! I know our son is banking his checks right now as one of his instructors recently returned from the ship and said he was paying $6 for a gallon of milk...we are paying almost $5 here and I don't have palm trees!!!
