very true Gloria. Our son called my hubby first when he got the orders and expressed his concern about how expensive it was there and that we might not get to visit him ...his dad told him, he would have picked Hawaii as well.

I told him...I'm just taking the money from YOUR bank account to pay for my trip...I'll see ya plenty!

You are right but its less then alot of other hotels and most don't have a kitchen in them. So if you think about it less money spent going out to eat and more monry to see all the sites.

But isn't everything in Hawaii? Although it would not be my first place to stay, I was hoping that the Navy Lodge had the same rate all over the country. Ya know like that $62 rate at Great Lakes?! Not a chance!

I've already checked the prices for the Navy Lodge ...hoping their rates were universal ...they are not. $113 per night, which I imagine is a great rate in Hawaii...save $$$ here.

Thanks April and all...I just know orders to Hawaii will FINALLY get me that Hawaiian vacation at some point. I have done a lay off at the airport but never got to spend time on the island so I'm excited ...I'm saving my pennies now!

Hi, welcome to all the new members. My son is on the Columbia for over a year.
We recently visited him a few months back. If I can be of any help I will do my best.

Hi all, I am joining early as our son is still in C school but he found out last week that he will be joining your loved ones in Pearl Harbor when he reports to the USS Chung Hoon DDG-93. Anyone else have a sailor on the Hoon? I've only ran across one mom so far.
