Pearl Harbor MA, I tell them first of all my son worked very hard to get a top pick and to get there. Secondly, he does not have much down time but when he does he deserves to have fun there.Ask them how hard they are serving.

UGH! So tired of people making jokes about how he's "really serving hard" when I say my son is stationed at Pearl Harbor!

Debbie, while my son is on his ship, I send as many emails as i want. Not sure if he gets them all but I do send them quite often.

NorthernRN, I do believe it is still the TMO. Maybe someone else can enlighten better on that subject than me. Didn't have to deal with that myself with my son. Sorry I wasn't to much help.

Good morning, my son is on the Charlotte. He sent me his mil email address quickly and it is wrong...I am trying to get it straightened out but my question is, how ofter should we send emails? I understand the size and content limits but is this like bootcamp where we try to send something daily or should we limit this to 1 or so a week? Thanks.

My son is graduating this Thurs as a FT. He will be going to Hawaii toward the end of April. He will be on the USS Charlotte.

I am looking forward to "talk" to other moms and share our joys and our sad times too. We all need to share our experiences and learn from each other.

This is another adventure on our family life journey!

Hi all,

My son is home right now and will report to USS Texas in April. Any other USS Texas moms around?  I would also love to have some ideas about how to travel to Pearl Harbor and where to stay and how much $$$ it is going to take once I get there.  Gotta budget darn it.

Good afternoon! Just wanted to say hello and glad I found this group =) My son will be reporting to the USS Lake Erie at the end of this month...he is home now for his 2 week leave given after a-school. So happy to have him home...trying to iron out the kinks (shipping car and changing his plane ticket to leave from home and not VA where his a-school was....) fun! :/ I'd like to just destress and relax but there are always loose ends! Anyway, hope everyone has a great day!

Hello everyone!  We just received word last week that when my son graduates his A School on April 20th, he will be assigned to the USS Houston stationed at Pearl Harbor.  I know we will have much to do, but we are all excited about this next part of his Naval journey.

At some point, perhaps in 2013, we would like to visit our son and see some of what Hawaii has to offer.  Though we have talked about it quite often, we have never been to Hawaii.  If any experienced Hawaiian travelers have any secrets to share, we would be very interested.  In our small amount of research, airfare seems very expensive . . . which is obviously part of the reason we have not made this trip previously.

Also, I think my son wants to move his vehicle from Groton, CT to Hawaii and he is considering a DITY move.  If anyone knows that their sailor has done that, I would love to learn more so I could pass that information on to my son.

Thank you in advance of any assistance you can provide.  I am very glad to be a part of this group.  Thank you for the opportunity.
