yeah, i tried getting info a while back before i came in, and no luck, nobody didnt know much. so i figured i would help out way more if i could..
weekends, you have to request to be out overnight, but usually they let you
just depends. about 3-4 weeks into a school is when you get "verbal" orders, then a week later you get hard copy of your orders(official). and yeah, from the way it was when i went through, once you get your liberties, its pretty laid back, can have visitors, have places to stay on base. etc..
not really. its basically where big navy wants/needs you. i put in my "dream sheet" for texas, cali, or florida. ended up in hawaii
Thanks Flydown! I'm former Navy myself and so are my brothers...My oldest was actually the CO of MEPS Pearl Harbor before he retired and we actually "hand-picked" the PS rating for my son because it suited him best. I was stationed at NAS WILGRO back in the day, so very familiar the old P-3's! I was an AX back then and was always a little jealous of the sailors that worked in PSD. Cush duty! great choice!! I knew enough to tell him how fast he could get through school, just had no idea on the TD time. Thanks again!
