Hi everyone. my name is Laurie. My son was sworn in on April 10th from Niagara Falls, NY. There were three others sworn in for the Navy also that same day. If you are on this site or any Mom's with sons/daughters on Ship 3, Div. 176 I would LOVE to hear from you. Take care, Thank you!

Laurie, thanks for setting this up. I have not yet received a letter from Sarah. I hope we have letters and phone calls next week. Have you heard anything yet?
Hi SarahsMom and Barbi, thanks so much for joining!! For a while I thought my son and Sarah were in a division all unto themselves LOL. Believe it or not I haven't even rec'd the form letter for/from my son yet let alone the 'first' letter. I had to call his recruiter this past Thursday and get it. Arugghhhh. My son was sworn in on April 10th in Niagara Falls, NY (we are from Rochester, NY) and we rec'd his box, believe it or not, on Friday, April 13th (Go figure right?). It's been very very hard on all of us, my husband John, and my daughter Jenn but we are trying to stay hopeful and strong. I thought possibly we might be at least the form letter over the weekend but I checked the mail again today and nothing. Again, arughhhhh. I made hotel arrangements at the Navy Lodge, it's supposedly very very close by and friends said that 'everyone' stays there. We are planning on driving from Rochester, NY for PIR (10 hour drive). Where are you two from and what are your kids jobs? CJ, my son, signed up for MAA (Master At Arms); Navy police. Chat with you soon and nice to meet you both!!! :-)
Laurie, we are from Dallas (Keller, TX). Sarah is going to be a CTI and will do A School at the Defense Language Inst. in Monterey, CA. It's almost a 2 year school. She will probably do Mandarin Chinese or Aerabic (sp?).
Barbi - my son is heading to Groton, CT as well after BC and then on for MT.
My daughter is on Ship 3 Div 176 also. We are from Nashville, Tennessee. Like all moms, I miss her greatly. I have been on You Tube. Searched under CNN Battlestations 21. It's a great video of the test they have to pass before their PIR. Also a full video of a recent graduation is on You Tube. It's nice to get a visual. I think our group will be graduating outside and dressed in white. The colder weather PIRs are inside. Does anyone know if this true?
Thanks everyone - are site is is growing. Welcome LinsMom to the group! I made reservations at the Navy Lodge for PIR, will anyone else be there? Talk with you again soon. Laur
Hi everyone, I recieved my son's first letter today! It actually was multiple letters in one envelope. It was so nice to hear from him but it's bittersweet as he isn't having to good of a time but is trying his best. I am hoping as time progresses things will turn around for him.
Laurie, I am glad you heard from him. I hope we get a call soon. Is he not feeling well or having other difficulties?. I know they are all nervous and worn out.
Hi SarahsMom, he's just real whooped and trying to adjust. As the letters progressed he reassured us he'll be okay and wants to continue on but I think it was a real shock to them when they arrived. I feel so bad for them but keep telling myself it'll work out for him and all our kids. Thanks for checking in! OOO
Hi Laurie, I have still not received a letter, I hope it and/or a call comes soon. It's hard to believe I have not seen her in 3 weeks. I miss her so. Did you say where you are staying in GL?
Hi everyone, I recieved a call from my son last night at 6:10p. We spoke for a good 30+ minutes. Sounded extremely tired but seems to be hanging in there okay. Ankles are swollen which he isn't sure what exactly from (running probably). I told him to try to put them up at night when he is sleeping. He said everyone is sick from a headcold since Wk1. They are all getting along great in the division. I am so glad he isn't in this alone. :-)
s-amburegy- Don't you have to get a marriage license? That would be awesome. He will look smashing in his uniform.
