Hi

Not sure of my son's PIR yet, he left on 10/26 and still have not heard a thing except the "I got here" call.  The recruiter said he is on USS John F Kennedy. Thats all I know.

Hi,

Have you gotten any other updates from your son?

Hello, my son also left on 12/26, per the information I received, PIR is on 12/29....your sons letter should be arriving shortly. How are you other m)oms holding up?
hey! im not a mom but i am a fiance :) how are you doing?! i finally got my sailor's form letter yesterday!

Hi P.S. I Love You....I'm so glad that you received your letter, sorry about the (Moms) comment, I tend to forget that there are many women here that are fiances, wives, aunts. etc.   Have you written back yet?  Some ideas of things to include in your letter are

1.  Comic strips from the paper

2.  Clippings from his favorite team (if they are currently playing) my son loves all sports, so I sent him clippings of the Giants, Jets, NBa lockout etc.

3.  A card signed by his friends and family

4.  A page from his crossword puzzle book (in the event he has down time)

5.  Funny fortunes from fortune cookies

6.  Stamps

7.  small photos of his favorite people (mostly me of course)  I'm just kidding.

I can't wait until the next phone call, i'll keep your sailor and you in my prayers....

Anything you can think of that will help encourage and make the time pass by quicker...

ive been able to send him letters for the last week cuz i got his address from his recruiter but ive sent him some pictures of me...i never thought of like newspaper clippings, i just cant wait to hopefully get a phone call, cuz i missed his "im here call" :( my phone like forwarded his call straight to voicemail...no worries about the mom's thing :) i understand lol how are you doing?

I do better on some days than others....I finally went into my sons room and "dusted"  .....no I actually sat on his bed and bawled like a baby.  I took pictures of his "teen room" so I could add to a scrapbook I am putting together, I'm making copies of his letters and including them in the scrapbook. It provides a place to put my fears, tears and love....

I recv'd his 2nd letter, gosh I laughed, cried, laughed etc...especially when he wrote about the "peanut" shot.  I hope he calls soon....my 6 year old misses his big brother...  How are you holding up?

about the same.  I got two letters in the mail this last saturday and found out that we are going to get married when he gets home on leave :) im ecstatic but at the same time sad that he's not here to like see my face at his news lol i cry every day on the way home from work because i drive his truck (i sold my car right before he left) but then i think that it has already been 3 weeks and realize ill get to see him soon...i found out he's the athletic petty officer for the division lol which is awesome :) i guess im mostly just as scattered as i was when he left...my emotions are crazy all over the place but im definitly having more good days then bad ones the longer he is gone and the closer to coming home he is, my little sister, who's 8, misses pat too, she really wants to talk to him...i heard they will most likely get a call next week...like the third week of their official training its the "im alive" call lol and its 30 minutes!!

That's awesome....the distance and lack of contact can be draining, however, I try not to think about it in weeks, ....my son has 44 days to go. Somehow talking about the time left in days as opposed to weeks makes it seem like less time. (not sure why though)  I'm starting to look at hotels, airfare, car rental etc....and the weather in Great Lakes in Dec..if I end up driving I don't want to get caught in a major snow storm.  Stay strong, he will pick up on your strength via letters and the "im alive" call.

yeah i booked at the navy lodge and am buying my plane tickets this weekend. im gonna have to use a shuttle to get around tho :( sadly im not old enough to rent a car lol i am definitly leaving 2 days before graduation so if for some reason my flight gets cancelled (be it weather or something else) ill still have time to get there for graduation...i look at the countdown clock on my phone like 10 times every day just to see that time is really passing...thank you :)

Just a heads up on the ribbons you guys have been ordering to wear to PIR. All the ribbons that I have received payments for were shipped today. Please let me know what you think of them when they arrive. I know you will all wear them with pride when you see your Sailors. If anyone else would like more info on ordering the ribbons just send me a friend request on this site or an email to uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com   Thanks so much :-)
