Hi everyone, I am new to this group. My son was asmoed and this is his new ship and division.

Just wondering how this division is doing. The last division my son was in, we were getting letters a lot but only had one phone call.

Also what week is this division in?

I'm really glad I found this site!  I was pretty worried that I wouldn't have any ability to talk with my son's shipmates parents and see if they were going through the same thing I am...obviously, we're all in the same boat.  *whew!*

 

I keep holding on to the phrase "no news is good news."  My son isn't one to write novels, but he will scratch out a few lines each week.  He says that they're only able to write on Sundays, but can get mail all week long.  He asked us to send him pictures and phone cards so he can call when they allow it.  He's going to be able to take the phone cards to A-School after PIR as well.  (I don't expect him to call me that often, he's newly engaged and I'm sure that she's the one that will hear from him first. LOL!) 

 

Am I correct in reading in an earlier post that Desiree's SR was made Religious Petty Officer for the Division?  Congrats!  My son was made Medical Yeoman for his Division too.  Hooray for jobs and responsibilities!

Hello and welcome. We def are all going through the samething wed will week 3 for my SR. I am hoping to get a phone cakk this week. And yes law my sr was picked to religious petty officer. I know he must be really happy with that. He loves his religion. So if any of your SR are catholic am pretty sure that they have a great person to talk too. And congrats to you as well that your sr was chosen to be Medical Yeoman. I am pretty sure that they are probable doing alot better then us. I really hard and i have my good and bad days. But i know that i can always come on here for support. How are you ladies holding up. by the way my SR is my boyfriend.

My SR isn't Catholic, but I'm sure that he'll talk to your SR when he's getting overwhelmed.

My SR shipped on 03 Aug.  It's been pretty strange around here without him.  My younger son is starting to adjust to life without the big brother around - it's taken all 3 of these weeks. 

 

I'm sure that I'll break down and freak out sooner or later, but I haven't done it yet.  I'm not one to lose it easily and definitely don't cry much at all.  I probably should, though.  Between him being gone to boot camp and then getting married next September, my baby will never live at home with me again.  That bothers me a bit... My husband seems to think that I'll have it happen around the 4th week when weapons drills start...he's an optimist.  LOL!

lol you know whats so funny that you say that your sr will talk to my sr when he feels overwhelmed. Before my sr left we went to the inspiration store there were little message cards that gave great messages. At that point in time my sr said i want to buy extra ones and take it with me just in case someone is having a rought day i can give it to them and it might be the boost they need. He is so kind hearted and even if he is having a rough time he always there for others.  As far as you your doing alot better then me i break at least once a week. Last friday i broke down in the grocery store. It was my first time going grocery shopping since he left. It is def hard continue life without them around but i guess we will adjust. What i hate most is when people ask me how i am doing and i tell them. then they say i act like he died. Its not that but it def something that they dont understand. So i have gave up talking to friends and family about it. I just get on here and talk to you ladies you know exactly how i feel.

I understand about the breaking down and such.  I was a police officer for 17 years, so I'm kind of emotionally retarded...its not much fun going through emotional puberty and having your kid leave home at the same time.  *sigh*

 

Those little message cards?  I love those!  I have some that say "Believe" on the front and they oopen up with some little bit of inspirational wisdom inside.  I send one with every letter I write.  I don't know which ones are which inside, so its kind of a fun surprise.

 

I hope our SRs get to know one another well.  It sounds like they have the same kind of hearts.

if they both have hearts of gold they most likely well get to know each other. I need t ask my sr who are his close sr so i can get in contact with there family if they are on here. I will be really nice to speak the family of person that my sr is close too.

Oh, I agree with you 100%!  I told my SR (who's name is Joe) that I'd signed up on here.  I'm hoping that he'll pass the website along to his shipmates and there will be other family members that join up with us.

Welcome to the new members of our Ship 11 Div 322 forum. My SR is my daughter, the 3rd one to leave home but first one in the military. This no contact thing is rough.  I wonder all the time what she is doing and learning, and how she is getting along.  She is not much of a correspondent, and I know they have little time.  I just keeping sending cards and letters and hoping for some news in return.  I sometimes think "I can't wait for boot camp to be over!" Then I realize she probably really can't wait!! She's a strong-willed, smart girl, and I am extremely proud of her.  I hope she's getting along ok.

I know exactly what you mean iwagot!  My son is not much of a correspondent either!  But, like you, I keep sending him cards/letters each day.  I do try to change it up for him... one day I might send a comic strip, the next a form letter, and the next, info on one of his favorite sports teams.  One thing is for certain, he is sure to never know what is coming next.  LOL...
