Just got my letter from our SR made us so happy :)! Heading to Great Lakes for the PIR in April and can't wait to see him.

There is a division t-shirt that can be ordered, but they advised to check with SR first because they may order for you. Those can also be ordered after the fact. I have several Proud Navy Mom shirts that I have purchased from CafePress. They are having a 30% off sale this weekend. His brother HAD to have a Proud Navy Brother Hoodie that he wears to school and even sleeps in. I have matching shirts for Mom, Dad, and Brother that I've taken a picture of us in to send in one of his letters. I ordered those after he left, so he has never seen them.
I've also heard we can buy that stuff at the NEX when we are there. I personally plan to dress up for the occasion since my SR will be in his dress uniform. I wear my t-shirts during the week to show my support here at home. Anytime someone sees it they always ask about him. I can actually answer them, most of the time, without crying now that it has been almost 3 weeks since he left.
Thank you for the info. I think I will look at CafePress.
Is there anybody in our division able to play Trivia Tuesday so we have a chance at a picture? I teach school and Facebook is blocked by our district. Can't play on my phone because I have students in the room at that time. They seriously frown (understatement) on teachers having cell phones out since the students are not allowed to have theirs. LOL
Just checked the calendar. Since they say the 900 divisions perform in the two PIR prior to their own, we just may get a glimpse of our SR in the 3/30 or 4/6 pictures!!
That would be awesome!
"If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together.. there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart.. i'll always be with you."
AA Milne, Winnie the Pooh
(I know it's not a Hoo-rah quote, but we probably all read to our children when they were younger!)
Week 3: Here's what the Internet says they are doing:
Week Three - In a hands-on environment, this week you will learn first aid techniques, signalling with flags, the proper procedure to board and disembark a ship, and basic seamanship. You will do this training on a real ship situated in a large hangar. Your first PT (physical training) test is administered during week three, the areas tested are 1.5 mile run, push-ups and sit-ups. This is often called the PT0, because it is the starting point from which you will improve.
Hopefully they are starting to settle in and things are getting better. AND Hopefully we will all get letters this week. AND MAYBE EVEN A PHONE CALL!!!!
Thank you!
Floks,
Here is a really good post with several ways to find out "what they are doing" in BC. The NavyDEP.com one gives a day-by-day. This is in your Discussion Forum...but I will provide the link here. There are lots of other good Discussions too!
What ARE They Doing in Boot Camp? Synopsis, Videos and a Day-by-Day...
Thank you-- this has been helpful.
So I tried for the trivia question, wow, people are fast. within the 1st minute there were already almost 70 replies. By the time I hit enter, about 75 replies. Now that I know it will be that fast, I'll be sure to have the page open before 10am (my time). I want a picture of 922!
