Just got my letter from our SR made us so happy :)! Heading to Great Lakes for the PIR in April and can't wait to see him.
Having a teary day today. My SR turns 19 today and it's the first birthday we haven't been able to celebrate together. Add to that the fact the we did not get a call last night when quite a few others did and it makes mom have a sad day. I was better off waiting for the call than knowing they got their one mid-boot camp call and now we probably won't hear until they pass battle stations, if he calls us then.
Sorry for the drama, but I just had to get it out.
I am sorry that you are having a teary day, maybe he will call today. Jacob said they didn't give them much time to make calls. We almost missed our call.
Thanks for understanding.
Thanks. I sent him with 2 phone cards. One was labeled HOME and was FRIENDS. I wanted him to be able to call a friend, but I also wanted him to know that we love him and want to hear from him. I have also ordered my PIR ribbons, so I think, other than deciding what to wear, we are ready to go!
We gave our son a phone card also. Still no phone call still no letters. :( Although they are all in the N NAVY, they are still our babies and always will be. All a parent wants to know is their child is ok.
I feel as though a lifetime has passed since he went into the NAVY, I think it feels that way because of the lack of communication for the 8 weeks. Since our son has gone in my mother in law has died and my sister has been diagnosed with cancer. We aren't putting any of that on facebook in case someone sees it and tells him and we haven't written to say anything that either. We write him about every two days or so. There is nothing he can do regarding either and want him to be able to stay focused through the boot camp
Our plans are finalized for the trip to chicago and can't wait to see him. My husband checks the mail everyday, usually I have to get the mail. lol I know he misses his son and longs for that letter.
I try to stay busy so as not to focus on all the other things going on and it seems to work for now. Glad we all have eachother on this forum.
Dear Ship 02/922,
I wanted to let ya'll know that one of the things my son said he misses most is music.
Though your SRs are having to put in the extra time for practice, there are those of us in other divisions who appreciate their commitment.
I look forward to hearing them play at PIR.
To Bob's mom: What a nice thing to say. Thank you for taking the time to give us that message. Our kids are all in this together. So are we.
My SR has been asking all his friends to send him song lyrics when they write. He was never without his music. Even had it going while he was asleep. That is probably the worst part of all this for him, even more than not having his cell phone or laptop.
Does anybody in this group know what week/day our SR are on? The other div appear to be on week 3, which doesn't make any sense to me because that means we start week 7 on Tuesday before PIR and I thought boot camp was 8 weeks.
There are only 30 days left so, we have to be right at 4 weeks in, right.
