A little about me:

My SR is my son.  He will be celebrating his 19th birthday on March 19th with your SR!  19 years ago I gave birth while his father was in bootcamp.  I spent 2 years as a military wife, divorced, spent years as a single mother and just remarried last year.  He is my one and only child.  I am originally from Chicago and moved to Arizona when my son was 8.  When he was 15 we relocated to Texas.  I have been a police officer for 12 years and I am now a criminal justice teacher in a high school program in Texas. I plan to attend PIR with my mother.

Trying to connect with our group so here's a little about me,  My SR is my son too and he is my only child. I suppose that is why I'm so nervous without any military background.  We are from southern Florida.  My husband has been police officer for 26 years now.  My husband and I plan to attend PIR and I am looking very forward to meeting you as well as other parents.

YAY!!! Someone in the same ship/div!  I am also a police officer for last 12 years.  My SR is my only son too.  I am having a REALLY empty nest feeling for sure!!  Its been hard so I understand your mama concerns completely!!!!  Great to have you join the group!

oh mamabeans.... so glad someone else joined you!!!! What is your SR going to A school for?

My son is going to Meridian Mississippi for school for Logistics Specialist. He  wants to be a hospital corpsman but the rating wasn't available when he signed up.  So he is looking for a transfer option.

my son is going  to Pensacola Fl for Aviation ordinance. For the last year he has been talking about transferring to SWCC but who knows what he'll do.

Hey guys,  My son is going to Pensacola Fl. for Aviation Electronics. Here a little about me, I have five (but it not any easier) and my SR is the youngest of the 3 boys. 2 girls also, my youngest a girl turned 14 yesterday, it's been hard on her she is the closes in age to him, the older 3, a girl that will grad. from college in May, and the 2nd oldest also grads.in May. My oldest is married with 2 children. I'm a preschool teachers of toddlers!! Can't wait for PIR 45 days!!

welcome momoffive!  SOOO good to have moms/family joining!

I have been reading so much and about Grad day. Many are saying they are bringing their sons/daughters cell phones to them, laptops etal...and some recruits are allowed to take them and some no... where is the best place to stay; most convenient; I have a 76 year old with me..I am renting a car...also where to go after grad...some are saying the time is crunched..any suggestions; what are others doing? I am a single mom, with his grandfather and little brother coming for my sons PIR and pretty lost...any directions and suggestions is greatly appreciated!

Hi LA-BriansMom, We are also coming to PIR and we are staying at the Sleep Inn which is just a 1-1/2 away from what I am told.  nothing fancy but it looks fairly new and clean.  We are also bring my mother-in-law who is in her 80's we are driving and I think we are bringing a wheel chair for her or I have read that they have them there on a first come first serve basis. I don't think I am taking his phone was told that they can let us know when they get to A school when they earn their phone to send it to them.  He can call from my phone if he wants or is allowed.  I read that they are not allowed to have any use of cell or computer as long as they are in RTC

Also sending my SR a birthday card from his dog.  I put a sign (made out of paper with Happy Birthday Daddy and the date) and took her picture & glued it on the inside of the card with a letter as written by her to my SR.  I hope it makes him smile!!

Got my letter today!  Did anyone get a letter?

For those of you that hadn't heard yet, I will share some of my letter....He says there are 80 people in the division.  He says he is Barracks Petty Officer?  Don't really know what all that means though.  He says they are really spoiled with the food and it is actually REALLY delicious.  But the showering time is hard because 80 people and they only get 45 minutes to shower/poo/teeth/fold/etc.... He says the Navy is a bit OCD ha ha ha... and he says he is really sore from the PT workouts but thinks he will have definition by the time he gets out and will be a "beast".  ha ha  (he is a bit on the tall skinny side).

If you didn't get a letter yet, just hold on.... it will come!
