Hoping to connect with anyone else who may have an SR in this division! Got a letter from him yesterday and was able to have a very brief conversation with him 11/11/11. So good to hear his voice.

Hi! My daughter is also in the same division!  I tried to start a message stating the same thing you did

earlier this week, but had problems.  So I'm glad you did.  My daughter left on 11/8, we received her box on 11/14

and her form letter, with a quick note on the back, yesterday on 11/18.  I'm so glad that you were able to get

a phone call from your son, and on Veteran's Day, that's even more special :)

So glad to here from you and cannot wait to connect with more people from this division!  Are you going to be attending graduation? I made my reservations today and had made my lodging reservations after he called. Sam left with another SR he went to school with since he was eight, but he is in DIV 34. His call was a difficult one, my dad passed away less than four hours after he left to fly to Portland, then on to Chicago for basic training. Althought they were able to say goodbye earlier that day, I know that this was hard for him. They gave him the option to fly home for the memorial service, but we knew my dad would want him to go on. Ten days later he asked to talk to a Chaplin and they let him call home to find out how we were and about the services. I am very proud of him for the strength he has shown through this! Glenda

Hi Glenda!  Yes, my husband, mom, dad, my daughter's boyfriend and I are all going to her graduation.

We also booked our flights today!  My daughter's boyfriend knows he may not get to see her PIR if

there is not enough room, but he wants be there anyway so he can see her over the weekend.  I am so

sorry to hear that your dad passed away.  Tough timing for your son, but good to know that he was able to say goodbye before he left for boot camp.  My daughter also flew out of Portland, OR (or did you mean Portland, ME?).  Anyways, it's nice to connect with another mother who has a child in the same division.  Take care. Teri :)

Am I doing something wrong, that makes the spacing of my posts get all messed up?

Teri, Oregon also! We live in Klamath Falls, but I will be flying out of Portland on 1/4/12 for the graduation! Not sure about the spacing??? G

My daughter is also in this same division.  She left from Little Rock Arkansas on 11/7/11.  I got the box, the form letter, and the note on the back.  I look forward to a phone call.  I'm thinking maybe on Thanksgiving we will get a call?  It is going to be an challenging Holiday season.  There is definitely an empty space in our house and with that emptiness we continually think about what she is doing at this moment.  We made our reservations for graduation and hope that the weather is kind to us, as we are planning to drive.  It is nice to see these posts.

Melanie's mom...So good to hear from you and am looking forward to meeting everyone at graduation. I too am suffering from the emptiness. I have three kids, Sam is the youngest and because I am divorced it is the first time in my 45yrs I have been alone! Add the hoidays and the loss of my father to that, I have to admit that this is going to be very strange for me. I and my mom are flying to see my daughter and granddaughters in Boise tomorrow for the Thanksgiving holiday, but have to admit it will not be the same without Sam. I will be taking over his annual building of the gingerbread house with the girls! Hope that you all have a peaceful, blessed Thanksgiving and keep in touch! Glenda

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you Navy Moms!

My daughter also is in this division. I got her box first and then the letter came. I find myself just feeling sad at times cause its hard not being able to know how she is doing. I have already booked my flight, hotel and transportation. I have 10 family members coming with me all to support her. Cant wait to see her. I'm so proud of her cause I know it wasn't an easy decision but she did it and is doing it like the rest of the daughters in BC. God Bless them all.

Hi my daughter is also in the same division. So far just the box and form letter with the note on the back. I am really looking forward to any letter or phone call. I have been wondering about not getting a call as she is NF and I would have thought I would have gotten some kind of security clearance question by now. I blame her recruiter I think maybe he did a TOO good of job.LOL

My daughter left Nov 8th from Phoenix. I have not made my reservations yet as I havent heard from her so I just want to get the Im doing ok before I make them.

We finally received our first 2 letters from our daughter!!!  They probably arrived on Wed, Nov 23, but we went out of town for Thanksgiving before the mail came that day and my parents received their first letter from her on Wed, so at least we got to read their letter from her.  For the other mothers of daughters in this division, she says that between their division and their brother division their are a total of 94 women all on the same ship and there has been a lot of yelling and fighting at night which has made it hard to get to sleep :(  Hopefully, after 3 weeks they are starting to work together and argue less.  She also said that they would be getting a 6 hour holiday routine (like a Sunday) for Thanksgiving!  I was very happy to hear that, and that for their first Sunday holiday routine their ROC Senior Chief bought them nice smelling shampoo and body wash for the long showers that they would finally be able to take!  She said she was in heaven :)  I hope the rest of you had a great Thanksgiving and have received you first real letter from your child.  Teri

I also received a letter from my daughter dated 11/20. She said they are able to spend time with family on Christmas for the day. I really wished I lived close enough to be with her on Christmas day but I will have to wait til PIR. Counting down the days and praying for her ever day that God will give her the strength to endure.
