Shelly, he moved on a Tues. and he called, I think on Wed. with his address.

Thanks Leah. I added it to the list.

Shelly, if they stay on the RTC side until they go to A school, they can not have any personal items. I took my younger son's things with me, and then took everything back. As soon as he got moved across to the main side, I was able to mail everything. As for how long they have liberty (days), I don't know. I left on Sat last time, but I'm leaving on Sunday this time.

Thanks Mrs. Recruit. I started a discussion to keep track of the BS days!

Lisa Ann, how old is your son? I have a 14 year old daughter. Last time she was able to use her school ID badge. I'm not sure of the exact rules for younger family who do not have state ID. I know that school IDs work.

MaryK, They seem to be starting BS early, so I'm wondering if they are taking some days off for New Year's. Since New Year's Day is Friday, will they do BS that day? I'm not sure which days they won't have BS.
Has anyone been keeping track? Can we make a list of the confirmed days? I would like to keep everyone in my prayers those nights.
Also, are we going to make a posting of those divisions as they pass?

The calls come in around 4 PM CST. I remember I was already at the hotel when I got my other son's call. My son now is going into BS on Wed as well, so I will be in the hotel getting ready for the Meet and Greet when I get my call.
I was also told that they get a pizza party the night after BS. I asked my son home on leave about it and he said that the capping ceremony was "Cool" He said he remembered thinking, "This is it? It's over?" Meaning that he couldn't believe he was now a sailor. I think he was thinking something harder. He says that BS is basically everything they learned in BC. The hardest thing is staying awake.

Mary K, Don't worry about PIR! You won't be alone in the "water works"!!!!!! I will right there with you!
Word of advice for all at PIR: Have plenty of tissue and wear water proof makeup!
I get chills watching the video of the Capping Ceremony. I like to draw a little stick figure of a recruit changing caps at the end of my letters. I feel that it lets my boys know that I am so proud of them.
I went to an event at church tonight and since it was a dressy event, my son wore his Dress Blues. He had so many people coming up to him telling him how good he looked. Some didn't even recognize him! It is amazing how our kids change in such a short time! We give them our young girls and boys, and we get back such well groomed, well behaved young men and women! Thank you US Navy!

They do get to call after Battle Stations. It will begin at 8PM and end 8AM right after BS, they have their "Capping" Ceremony. From my past experience, the "I'm a Sailor" calls don't start coming until 4PM. So if your recruit does BS on the Wed. before PIR, you will most likely be in GL when you get your call. I know 049 has BS on Wed. Jan. 6 and I think 050 goes with them.
I just can't believe it's time for BS already! I look forward to reading all the posts about BS!!!!

I just had time to go back and get caught up on everything. I wish there was a way we could be there to cheer our recruits for the Captains Cup!
I didn't get a call on Christmas, so maybe for New Year's.
GO 049!
