Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

List for PIR
Here are some things I've thought of so far. Please add to it.
1.Valid ID for anyone over 3. (Since my daughters 11 I'm going to bring her birth certificate and or SS card since she doesn't even have a school ID yet)
2.Airline tickets (# for airline, car rental company, etc.)
3. Input #'s into cell phone for hotel, Red Cross, Sarge-if your using his taxi service, and any other #'s in Chicago you may need.
4. Input #'s from home that you may need (kids drs. dentist, eye dr., pharmacy)
5. Medical insurance cards
6. Medication(bring extra just incase your delayed in getting back for some reason)
7. Glasses and or Contacts (extra pair if you have them)
8. Cell phone and Charger
9. Gatepass
10. Vehicle insurance information. (AAA card if you have one)
11. Handicap placard if you are disabled(if you need a wheelchair they have some there but not many so they recommend bringing your own)
12.Something to sit on at PIR(those bleachers can get really cold)LOL
13. Binoculars(try to find out from your SR ahead of time their approx. location)
14. Camera(with lots of memory) and or Video Camera
15. PIR ribbons
16. Basket for Sarge (please let me know if you need me to bring a basket if you don't have room on the airplane or you can use a tote instead of basket)
17. Challenge coins and any other gifts for your SR.
18. Anything your SR wants to bring to A school with him (ask them to make a list of stuff for you to bring that day) cell phone, laptop, civilian clothes, sunglasses, favorite cologne,(just a few things my SR wants me to bring) Don't forget can always send these things to them at a later date esp. if their flying out and don't want all that extra stuff on plane.

Since I had my daughter, I cannot remember anything, ever. It used to be funny but now it's just annoying. I have to make lists all the time. My life is a giant sticky note pad. Lol. -

As mentioned by someone else, their comfy underwear! Apparently the tidy whities are unbearable LOL! That was our SRs first request besides his phone!
