I hope we can get to know each other and sit together at PIR. I really hope our guys are getting along lol.
My son left Nov 1st and arrived later that night. Saying goodbye at the airport was so hard, but to watch him get sworn in was absolutely wonderful and emotional. A proud mom I am!!!:)
Mine left the 15th. And I count the note scribbled on the back of the form letter as a letter! definitely!
My fiance is part of this group also! I'm so excited. I can't believe it's almost been two weeks since he left. He is going to be a Hospital Corpsman so he's going to San Antonio for A School. We're from Douglasville, GA. I can't wait to meet everyone.
Welcome Roslyn! Our guys along with joemama's son will all be in A school together! I hope they are all doing well up there. I haven't heard anything since the day he arrived. I am hoping for something (anything lol) in the mail from him tomorrow.
My son is in this division...I too am so, so proud of my baby boy. We got a phone call the day after Thanksgiving. I loved hearing his voice, I just wish the phones had better reception, but I will take whatever call I can get. How are all you ladies holding up?
I am getting jealous of all these letters and phone calls y'all are getting lol. mome2jord, the call you got was to let you know he was in a new DIV right? I was reading on the RTC fbook page about people who's recruits got there after ours did and have gotten letters and a real phone call! I am getting worried. I know I know no new is good news but I really need to have some kind of contact to know he is okay. I am still learning patience in the Navy is a whole new type of patience...
I know, I haven't gotten anything (besides the form letter) yet eithe! I'm really excited though, tomorrow myte be the day I finally get a letter. HMwife, I know exactly what you mean by the patience thing. It's just a matter of fynding ways to make tyme fly! =)
Actually I will say there is no consistency in what the Military does...so I would not panic. I have yet to get my son's form letter and yet he has been there since Nov 1st. We have gotten 5 phone calls, which is very rare. The first one was the I'm here call, then on day five our son said they had some really cool RDC's they let his division call home. The third phone call was to let us know they messed up his direct deposit and he was not getting his first paycheck so he had to verify his account number. The fourth phone call was to let us know he got sick and they were changing his division and the 5th one was the day after Thanksgiving to say hi. But it was because his old division got a call. Not all divisons got a call. So, technically if you take out the issue with the direct deposit and the I'm sick call, his first real phone call would not have come until week three. I would say we have only gotten so many calls due to the few issues that came up, so the no news is good news is really the best. I would advise waiting a few weeks before booking flights to make sure your recruits settle in and don't get sick the first few weeks. If there is a change in tickets it gets expensive.
The first five days they are doing processing days and my son said they weren't in their barracks right away so they could not send mail. They also have to train one of the recruits to do the mail and they have to take a federal test. So, it may be a few weeks before you get letters. Once they start coming you will get them regularly. Our son said they send mail on Friday and Sunday. So, our letters come Tues and either Wed or Thurs....depending on where you live. I promise they will come and it will be a weekly thing to be excited about. They will write as soon as they can. It is their only form of communication since they can't talk to each other!! I understand your excitement, the waiting is the hardest part...hang in there!!!:)
I just got my first letter today!!!!!!!!!!
It's only two small pages, but it's so wonderful, I'm sitting here bawling my eyes out, he sounds the same as he always does, and he misses me a lot, but it's so great!!!
I hope all you ladies get letters soon!!!! ♥
YAY!!!! That is so exciting. They are so cherised and even though we enjoy getting them they always make me tear up! Congrats on your first letter and many more to come!:)
I got my form letter today!!! The darn thing was post marked the 23rd (he got there on the 16). He says he is adjusting, that the food is good, and the RDCs are tough. yay!!!!
Yeah, he quoted some of the things the RDCs have said to them in his letter to his family, but the things they say are all pretty much to be expected. He didn't mention the food, though~
