I hope we can get to know each other and sit together at PIR. I really hope our guys are getting along lol.
Roslyn, you will get letters before he gets yours. They have to train one of the Recruits to do the mail so it will take about two weeks for them to get your letters. I bet by the time you receive your next letter he will have begun getting yours. I sometimes feel its so cruel, but I'm sure those are just the words of a loved one. Just keep sending the letters and when he gets them all it will make him feel so wonderful!!!! And keep your chin up, sending you a hug. The letters are great to get, but still very emotional.
Thank you! I know he will get them soon and it will make everything a lot better for him.
^_^ I really hope they're getting our letters soon; in the one letter his parents have recieved, he was really worried about me (long story short, he thinks I'm dying in ICU somewhere w/o him) praying for me (he's not the religious type) and everything. I can only imagine the state of mynd he's in after three weeks of being there, if he hasn't gotten any of my letters. (Confirming that I am alive and well, ^_^") ♥
Aww that's so sweet! That's similar to my guy's letter. He was talking about he wants to get married PIR weekend because he doesn't want to wait any longer to marry me. But I have to do what's best for me right now and moving to San Antonio while he's in A school is not an option for me because of my job. So we can get married after boot camp but I can't move until I know where he'll be stationed for awhile.
I hope they give them thier letters soon; I'm sending out my tenth one today, and in total, it's upwards of 70 pages. >_<""
(I can't help it, I've always written a lot, and I know he WON'T have tyme to read everything, haha.)
I agree with the letter priveleges thing; the only one I (and his family) have gotten was postmarked the 25th, (which, we got them on last monday, the 28th) so they musn't have gotten to send letters this week. =((
Good Morning All! Wow, what a day we had yesterday...I never knew how exciting getting mail could be! The site of letters totally helps speed things along and reminds us that we CAN get through this! Most of what our son said was positive and he even shared some funny stories, which was great! He said he's already made some great friends! That made my day the most! The negative was that 9 of them completed an already established division, who were already 4 or 5 days ahead of them so the new 9 were kinda thrown in and not knowing what was going on but expected to know as much as the ones who were there days earlier...I wrote back and told him to look at the positive side, that he gets to graduate a week earlier than the rest of the recruits who arrived the same day as he did....such a mom, always trying to put a positive spin on things! I'm sure he's expecting that from me! lol! I had to keep reminding myself that he was writing only a few days after arrival (Thanksgiving) and then a few days after that so I'm sure by now, the newbies have gelled in just fine together! He noted that someone forgot to shave, ruining their chances of making a phonecall one of the days :( I'm sure that was a quick lesson learned for whoever that poor guy was! :) I'm feeling very positive and happy today for many things but esp bc I feel they must be receiving our letters by now and feeling the love from home which I'm sure they so desperately need! I hope that the day brings smiles, hope and letters to you all! Best wishes! Buying our plane tickets today and reserving our room!! Woohoo!
Burstingwithpride...I am so grateful you got letters. It is always so nice to see the letters in the box and their handwriting. I always cry through the letters and then we laugh. One of our letters we got yesterday was addressed to Mom and Dad...I loved it. You are a fantastic mom for encouraging him and bringing the positive side to things. That is what we do. I can't wait for our next letters and then we will get to see them soon....have a great day and book those flights:) Where are you staying? We are at the Spring HIll Marriott.
Hi! Thanks for the note =) Hoping your next round of letters come quickly!! I was looking into SpringHill and Residence...I saw most positive comments about those...and I'm torn about flights...we want to use SWest bc of their flexibilty if anything changes and less fees but see that the website listed in the PIR packet is cheaper...I don't know, I think maybe paying a little more for flexibilty if the need arises may be worth it? Are you going to any of the meet and greets?
Yes, Southwest is always so flexible, but I was surprised that their rates were not the cheapest. Usually their rates are really good. Plus their flight attendants are great. I am curious about the website and PIR packet you are talking about. I haven't heard of that before, what is it? Did it come with the form letter because ours has officially gone missing. My son arrived in GL on Nov 1st and we still have never gotten it, so if the PIR packet is in that, we didn't get it.
I tend to agree that the little extra expense is worth it just for the flexibility. The other thing you can do is wait one or two more weeks to book the flight. Our son was one that got asmoed for two weeks. We didn't find out until the day before Thanksgiving which was after he had been there for 25 days. So from experience I would maybe wait a tiny bit longer to book airfare just to be safe or you can book through Southwest for the flexibilty. Hopefully that helps.
Hi again! Thanks for the info! The "oacket: I was referring to is actually just a brochure or pamphlet...it's the MWR, it is trifolded but opens up big with details about restaurants, gift ideas, lodging, etc etc...has a small map too...I can scan it if you want? But you could alwasy visit their website where I am sure all of the same info is there.... www.mwrtravelplus.com
Sorry, here's the actual brochure...the above is the boking part of the site ;)
Thank you so much, I appreciate it!! I will check out the website....I bet they do have the same info. I will read up on it...again, thank you so much!:)
