Welcome to PIR 01/20/2012

OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

We booked with Southwest and it was about $100 cheaper to fly into Milwaukee than Chicago.  Our tickets were $260 round trip per person which seemed good to me.

I hope her sailor buddies are kind to her, today Lala.

Years ago when my brother was stationed in Hawaii, I was there visiting him when some guys on his ship "initiated" a new guy on his birthday.  We were at a cookout on the beach and they held him down on the beach in the sand and then poured mustard, ketchup and bake beans all over him.  LOL  Thank goodness, he was able to just jump in the Pacific to clean up.   I still have the picture, it's pretty funny, although of course, he didn't think so at the time.

To add to diannep's suggestion, also don't forget to consider flying with Southwest Airlines, if they fly out of your area, when booking flights.  You can change your flight dates, if necessary, with no change fees and you are allowed 2 checked bags free.  They also fly out of and into Milwaukee, which is an easy 45 minute drive to GL.  Some people do forget that Milwaukee is so close to GL, so that is a good choice.

When renting a car don't forget to consider the option of using Priceline.  They will allow you to suggest your own price and then will let you know whether they approved it.  I have used them many times and have always been able to get great deals on cars.

Today is my Sailors 22nd birthday :-) I hope she has a great day and all the people in her squadron are nice to her lol. I hear the birthday pranks can be pretty funny :-)

Good morning, everyone.  Just a reminder if you haven't done it already. Make sure you make your hotel reservations now.  Liberal cancellation policies so changes/cancellations are not a problem.  The hotels in the area where Sarge's MeetNGreet is held are:  Residence Inn Waukegan, Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, and Candlewood Suites.  All of these are 4-5 miles from RTC.  The 3 Marriott hotels have PIR shuttle, but not sure about Candlewood.  Some of the hotels book up (especially the larger suites at Residence) so it is a good idea to book now.  We stayed at Residence and liked it very much.
