~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

This bootcamp stuff is too hard for me!! I can't wait for it to get better and it's only been 10 days!!

I received a phone call from my son today at 11:35 this morning....what a surprise because I absolutely was not expecting a call so soon! He's never been much of a talker so he didn't volunteer much info so he just basically just answered all our questions. He sounded really, really good! Said it's not as hard as he expected...yet anyway. He certainly made my day! He's Ship 13 Div 79.

I received a phone call from my son! Amazing how a 10 minute chat can do so much. He sounded great. He said the first few days were hard and he hated it, but he loves it now. He said he got picked to be the division Yomen? He got screamed at about that but he's learning his job quickly and it's getting better. He said it's the best thing he's ever done. Ship 13, div 079.

The swim test only has to be passed once during bootcamp, but the PFA (fitness test....pushups, situps, 1.5 mile run) has to be passed for sure on the 3rd one right before BattleStations, their final test.  The first 2 are practice for them but they need to try and do well in those too.  They can't go through BattleStations until they pass that 3rd PFA.

The beginning of bootcamp is very hard emotionally for many of them....especially if they have never been away from home before.  It DOES get better as they go along, gas they get letters from you, can make a couple of phone calls, and most importantly....make friends!  They are "bonded" in this experience and will make great friendships.

So hang in there, ladies....PIR day will erase any concerns you have right now for them---it is phenomenal so I hope all can make it up there....remember, they are safe, being trained, being taken care of...and becoming sailors!

Vent on here whenever you all like....it is a great source of comfort to have others here going through the same thing!  But those of us who are N4Moms veterans know the end result and it is worth this emotional rollercoaster!  :-)

My son did not cry when I talk to him today. But when he had to go I told him i love him and when he said he love me to his voice cracked. I quietly prayed to myself... please lord dont let him cry. I asked him many time how he was doing mentally and he said he is adjusting. He said there had been 4 people drop out already from his Division.

Looking for moms, who's son or daughter is in Ship 13, Div 79.  Loved hearing from my son, but I know that he is tired.  He sounded good, but then I heard his voice change.  We just need to stay positive for them.

Yes my son said it feels like he has been there forever. And it was so hard to stay strong and not cry with him, but I kept telling him how proud I am and how strong he is and that he can do it.

I guess I was lucky I talk to my daughter for 20 minutes, it was very sad, the whole time she was crying and telling me how hard it is, it was very hard not to cry with her, but I keep telling myself do not cry she need you strong, I told her how proud I was. It is very sad to said goodby when you know they need you.
Comment by SamsMom on December 14, 2013 at 1:25pm
it was heartbreaking and she really needed to hear a voice from home....she was also worried and the break down process is in full effect. When I told her she could do this she replied "I know I can" so that made me feel better :) She said she felt like it's been a lifetime and she made a calander and is checking off the days
