~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Jessiesmom2013, such good news! I had kept faith all the time that she would continue on and that it was probably not knowing if the Navy would allow her to that was keeping her spirits down. I had faith, too, that the Navy would take care of her and not crush her dreams if they see her resolve. If you wish to pm me her address, I would be so happy to send her some notes to cheer her up. Congrats, it would have taken extra guts to see your SR through this, bless your heart! our Navy is lucky to have her as a future Sailor! Take care now.

Oh I forgot to mention how AWESOME my hug was he just about lifted me off my feet! I did feel kinda sorry for a gentleman who got inbetween my Sailor and myself lol.. was hard to be polite and not push him out of the way. Jessiemom, I am so happy to hear she is going to heal and stick it out and remains in good spirts.

Ok I am late to the party lol.. Thank for all the wonderful support and excellent info. I do want to pass on that Flanagans no longer does a meet and greet but we had a great dinner there anyway. For me the meet and greet wasnt a big deal as my husband was stationed at GL for 2yrs and knew where to go. I wil say my only dissapointment was in our rental car and huge snow strom kept my family for seeing Michael off at the airport and giving him all his things now I will send them to him. Had we been at home and in our own vehicle it would have been diffrent. Thankfully another mom was there and took pictures and was with the boys so made me feel a litttle better very hard to keep the tears out of my voice. We talked to him back and forth till he flew out he used his phone card and a buddys phone as I had his. I found out Michael designed the div flag. well enough rambling thank ladies for being here for all of us on the wonderful journey

I am glad I became a member of this wonderful group. As far as I know everything I received here was accurate. At PIR I didn't get to meet alot of moms and that's okay because the one mom I did meet I am blessed to have met -Kari. Sarge was wonderful.

Wonderful news, jessiesmom!  Write her extra often during this time...I know it can get pretty lonely for those in RCU having to stay that long, but she has lots of "company" so that's good.  So glad that she was in positive good spirits during the call!  Hoping that YOU get to talk to her soon!

Good news, she called tonight and said that she will be in RCU for 4 - 8 weeks and she said that she is going to finish this to the end.  She was in good spirits.  I did  not get to talk to her but her sister and my husband did.  She was sooo excited that she has been given the opportunity to stay.  Thank you everyone!

mominconnecticut: I know what you mean. I get emotional too just out of the blue. But remind myself that "letting go" isn't easy and things will be okay! My son was also thanked a few times in our short time together:) He looks wonderful, healthy, well taken care of and in all around great shape! (mind and body) He took every chance he could in BC to work out and learn whatever he could; he also met a great group of people to keep in touch with as they move about their Navy career.

PIR was wonderful and Sarge's info was great! I will recommend to others to go to his Meet and Greet.

PIR was AMAZING. Everything I learned on here was spot on. The only thing that I was disappointed about was Sarge told us the best seats are up top, so we sat up there and we could see very well but when it came time to go down and find my son, it was not so nice.

We got to spend all day Friday with him until 7:00pm and then we met him at the O'hare at 6:00am Saturday and had until 6:30 that evening at the airport with him. His flight was supposed to leave at 5:17 but was delayed a bit. We got a room at the Hilton from 7:00am until 1:00pm so we could have quiet time then we headed down to the airport and had a bit to eat with him and then found the rest of the Sailors he was traveling with to Lackland in San Antonio. SO proud of my now SN, no longer SR!!

Thank you for everything.
