Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

A phone call would really be nice. It has been 17 days since I last spoke to him on the phone. The letters are wonderful but nothing like hearing that voice and hearing....I love you.

I know it is very hard on our SRs to be cut off from their previous lives, family and friends. But when you lose something that has always been there, a new appreciation grows. As much as it hurts me to be out of contact with my son, I know it is building character in him. He will come out the other end a stronger person...no longer a boy but a man, who has a newly realized set of values. He now cherish's his family and the time we spent together. He told me in a letter I received yesterday, he misses how we would hold hands as a family when we recited the Lords Prayer in church. What 18 year old appreciates that act? I am so proud of him to have this new realization.

Cheapest way is to rent a car....otherwise, you can use Sarge's shuttle service to/from airports, to/from PIR, around town. If you can share with other families, it is cheaper.

Djmom: If you can book on Southwest, no change fee if change is necessary, 2 bags check for free...into either Midway or Milwaukee.....you could go ahead and do that if you find a good rate (be sure to check their special one-way fares). Milwaukee is a little shorter drive to GL, no traffic, car rental is usually cheaper. No problem booking hotels since change/cancellation at them usually is up to day of arrival, no deposits.

Kari, we are looking forward to graduation as well, and are planning to attend Sarge's Meet and Greet. I made my reservations at Navy Lodge Great Lakes earlier tonight.
