~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

NukeMom:  Candlewood was very close to where we stayed...Residence Inn...same type of hotel...but we had a 2 bdrm 2 bath so my older son could have his own space (double beds in the bedrooms), pullout sofa in living room, gas fireplace, full kitchen.  They have studios too.  Pet friendly!  Very close to where Sarge has his MeetandGreet, and close to Holiday Inn Express, Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn...all good hotels too.  All about 4-5 miles from RTC. Near a huge Walmart shopping center with restaurants, etc.

Good Morning All !

jcmmmc:  Navy Lodge is one of the favorites of previous PIR families!  About a mile from the base, recently renovated, simply decorated but clean with a very friendly staff!  Rates are very good too.  Be sure to book in your SR's name.

Good Morning!

We chose candlewood suites, they have a full kitchen, a separate bedroom, pullout couch for my daughter, transport provided to and from Sarges and the PIR for <100 night with great reviews! I was thrilled!!! :)

We stayed there when my son graduated. It is very close to the RTC, and the staff is friendly and very helpful. It has also been recently remodeled.

Jcmmmc.... I've only
Heard positive things about the place. You won't be spending much time there anyways. We are stayin there.

Hi, curious about Navy Lodge....would it be better to stay somewhere else? I know we are all probably new here, but does anyone have any idea how the Navy Lodge is? Perhaps I should have booked somewhere else. Although, it's not too late. Anyone know? Thank you:)

The hotels located near Sarge's MeetandGreet (about 4-5 miles from RTC) are:

Residence Inn, Courtyard Inn, Springhill Suites, Holiday Inn Express, all hotels recommended by others on here.  Be sure to ask for the Navy Grad rate when you call and compare that with any other discounts you may be entitled to.  All of these hotels are in the Waukegan/Gurnee area.

Sarge's MeetandGreet is the one we recommend since he has lots of info for you for PIR weekend.  He runs a shuttle (taxi) service also and would be happy to pick you up from the airports, get you to PIR and back, etc.  He is retired military himself and loves helping the sailors and their families!  Contact Sarge at:

847 212 0246 or johnspadaro@att.net
