Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Ship 13 (USS Marvin Shields) Division 089 and 090 (Brother Divisions)

Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 089 and 090

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

I thought they said there was like 80 to a div. My son is Ship 13 div 090

I believe each division has about 80 guys in them and each ship has more than 1 division.

Hi everyone, glad to be joining this group, i have a question, I know only 3 guest are allowed on base for the graduation but is there a waiting room other than the hotel for additional family members to wait or is just easier to have family wait back at the hotel until we get back?

There is a place on base for extras, but it is never guaranteed available. It is best if they can remain at the hotel. Some of the hotels in the area even have a place to watch the live stream of PIR.

After Graduation, does my son leave with me back to the hotel for his free time or how does it work?

If your son will be flying out for A School, then, yes, he can leave with you after PIR. If your son is staying in GL for A School, then he will be moving over there right after PIR and you will pick him up there a few hours later.
