OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good morning Ladies!! Quick question are we able to get the calls on our cell phones? My son is Ship 11/Div 089, we live in Lafayette, GA. Still hoping for a call!!

N4Moms administration has also asked that you please not set up a separate group (for a division) outside of this PIR page.  That is why they provide the individual discussion groups on this page. They like to keep the division discussions contained on this page.  Thanks!  Helps to keep the site running smoothly!

Comment by diannep on December 22, 2013 at 12:06pm

Courtney:  ellen will be setting up division/brother division discussion groups soon so just wait for her to post that they are ready!  She is still collecting division numbers in this PIR group, then will set them up, they will be above this forum page.

Just a reminder to all that when participating in those discussion groups once set up, please still stay on this main page for questions/info.  We N4Moms veterans have about 6-8 active PIR groups to stay on at a time and don't have time to check the discussion groups for questions all of the time.  So bring your questions there onto this main page so we can help!

Cerabell18.....My husband was in the Army for 13 years and I use to cry and cry and cry. He said it made him feel extremely bad and quilty. This was way after the fact and there was nothing I could do to change it. Next time he calls tell yourself to just not cry while you are talking to hiim. He needs to know you support him 100% (which I am sure you do but he needs that reassurance more than ever right now) Then when yall hang up bawl your eyes out!!!
