Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Don't be too hard on yourself, Cerabell.  All have experienced what you did, or will....the emotions gone wild!  I know just hearing your voice helped him alot...even if you were crying!  You can write him and tell him that your tears were of joy to hear from him, not because you aren't doing ok.  You don't want him to worry about you.  It is important for those at home to assure their SRs that they miss them, but are doing ok.  The SRs need to be able to totally focus on their training.  Glad you got that special call!

Welcome to the new members of this group....and....GOOD MORNING!

I got a call tonight from my husband, Ship 04 DIV 807. It was right at 5pm PST and he only had 5 minutes so our call was pretty brief. I was so surprised to be hearing from him since I hadn't seen anyone else receiving calls from that division that I didn't know what to say to him. He sounded tired and said that it was hard. I was so happy to hear his voice that I couldn't stop crying, which made me feel awful because I could tell it was making it difficult for him. Any tips on how to keep yourself from becoming a blubbering mess when those few calls come in? I have such a great support system at home for me but he doesn't have that. He's by himself and has to deal with the separation from friends and family alone. Me crying on the phone, even if it is from happiness, isn't going to help him.

The Hilton at OHare:  They are not supposed to leave the airport once they arrive...if they miss their flights to A School for any reason, big trouble.  Sooo....the Hilton happens to be right there in the airport which means it is fine for them to be with family there....some even pay a "day rate" of $55 to stay the day there if their sailor has a later flight that day.
