~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good Morning!
Denise: The MeetandGreet held the night before PIR is not with the Chief. It is strictly families of the sailors...no sailors or Navy staff are present. There are actually a couple of MeetandGreets.....Sarge's, which is the one we recommend since he has lots of info for you....and one at the Ramada. Both are free and all family members (including children) are welcome....there is food served at both.
So cute, Lala! Both the picture and the poem!
I wrote this a couple years ago and thought you all would love it, not be careful it will get stuck in your head when you sing it :)
They’re Makin' a list, Checkin' it twice,
Gonna see their Sailor, It's really really nice,
Navy Moms are coming to town
They're bringing the wives, girlfriends too,
Gonna be crying through Pass In Review,
Navy Moms are comin' to town
They've stalked the local mailman,
Facebooked and Tweeted too,
They've learned the rules of OPSEC
and made lifelong friends here too.
Oh, you better dress warm, the weather is cold,
You better wear your ribbons of silver and gold
Navy Moms are coming to town ;-)
My facebook group, family and some friends did a Christmas project and we collected toys for kids who have a parent deployed on the Harry S Truman. This past weekend my hubby and I went to VA Beach to deliver the toys and it was an amazing experience. We ended up with close to 400 kids there and they were so excited about their gifts. i wish i could share the pics with you but I can't so that so here is one of the my Sailor and her friend surround by just some of the gifts :)
Hi everyone, I am so sorry I did not join you sooner. I am one of the volunteers here and I am one of the admins on the facebook groups. I agree about OPSEC, no matter where you are you need to not post too much personal info about your recruit or later your Sailor. This is a training time for all of you as well. So just remember anything you post anywhere on the internet is there forever once you hit enter. If it isn't something you would tell a complete stranger on the street then you shouldn't post it online. We don't want to scare you, we just want you to be safe :)
I haven't received the form letter yet either. He went in Dec 11. Received the box on Monday. Feeling sad :(
I totally agree with TJs mom. Some of the past FB pages have been shutdown by the Navy for violation of OPSEC. There are some of our administrators on the groups to try and warn all of what to post and not to post....but remember, on FB, last names are exposed. Also, although the PIR groups are usually private, does the administrator of that group really know who she/he is allowing into the group? Could be a friend/family member of one of the RDCs (your SRs' bosses!) and that would allow the RDCs to keep up with what is being said. So, be very careful....in the past, RDCs have gotten info from both N4Moms and FB with their current SRs. Just post general info and try not to disclose specific details that your SR told you that he/she wanted to remain private.
