~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

They have lock boxes in Pensacola NAS...:)) Some of the ratings there have to phase up before using them but they can have them. They will have to register them and a get a chit number, which is easily done in the barracks...:)..If you do ship them get the insurance and tracking number, have the tracking information texted/emailed to your sailor so they know when the goods are on base...I shipped my sailors to him with some of his clothes rolled around his laptop and cookies! Everything made it safely.......:)...OH, it's fun to ship goodies to A school!!

For those who may arrive at A School and not be allowed laptops yet, I have been told that they just have to lock it up (my son confirmed this).  Some are nervous about shipping electronics and prefer to carry to A School.

Good Morning!  Did anyone else get a phone call indicating who the other Division was that won the Captains Cup?

Keep your phones on.  Div 913 got to call yesterday after they won.  Whoever the other division is, may get a call today.

Good Morn Ladies.....

Just to back-up diannep....the sailors will be shipped to the airport early around 2am...ticket counters for the airlines don't open until 4:30am...the sailors go as group to the USO and check-In and drop their bags off, have snacks, goof around, hey they are not under the RDC anymore, they joke and seems to relax a little bit...you can give them their items at the airport no problems...some rating can't have electronics until they phase up in A school, so if your sailor tells you to ship it to them that maybe why...everyone going thru security at the airport needs an ID, state issued or school id just like when you fly somewhere..I saw one family with teenagers and they couldn't go to thru gates, no ID, they drove didn't think about the ID...at O.hare you can meet your sailor at the Starbucks right under the USO hang out there before the ticket counters open up if you want to meet early...I saw the bus pull in and the 28 sailors unload their huge bags...seabag and garment are about 4 feet long...black backpack does have some room, not  a lot..My sailor wore 5 pairs of boxers so he didn't have to worry about fitting them in the bag, such a goofball.....I handed my phone out to sailors to call family and confirm where they were and that it was ok to meet..yup sometimes the FB group is misinformed.....

Remember, the info I'm passing out to you all who are friend requesting/emailing me is gathered from info reported to me by you all re: BattleStations, which I always check with previous schedules of BattleStations...there are some "rules" for them---like numerical order, unless there is a training delay for a division (rare, but it happened recently in another PIR group).   900/800 divisions do not follow the numerical order rule though.

This PIR group has been somewhat challenging with diverse info for the same divisions being reported!  But I think we have finally got it straight...at least, I hope so!  :-)

Beth, you are welcome!

skibluedoggy:  We have heard that the sailors give the airlines a "family list" of those entitled to gate passes if you are not there.  We have never heard of someone not being able to go to the gate with proper ID in order to get gate pass,  so I think there are checks in place.  Also, your sailor will borrow a phone and can call you anyway.  So I wouldn't worry about it.  But be SURE to get flight info from your sailor after PIR, including airport...some forget the "airport" part and have no idea where to go the next morning!  There are 3 airports they can fly from, 2 in Chicago, 1 in Milwaukee.  Not sure if they are using Milwaukee yet, but they will be.  Make sure all in your group have ID to get the gate pass.

Not true on not giving your sailor cell/laptop at the airport (this is why we ask all who like to stay on the FB PIR groups to PLEASE stay on this one too...there is lots of misinformation traded over there at times).  Take the laptop...if for some reason, your sailor cannot fit it in the backpack, you can ship it or he may be able to carry it separate, but we haven't found this to be the case with most.   He will not check the backpack...that will be carry on with personal items he should keep with him.  He will check his seabag and garment bag (uniforms).  You can put the laptop in a separate bag, but I would suggest just a laptop case (black) and hope that he can fit it in his backpack.  He may only be allowed 1 carry on--depending on the airlines....plus...that would be 4 items for him to keep up with once he lands...

Diannep thank you so much for the battle station info and links!! I watched the video on the you tube link and couldn't help but get teary-eyed I'm praying for all our sailors as it looks very intense and emotional.
