~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

* Ladies -- Those of you who are mostly staying in discussions above:  Please stay on this group too.  I was just looking through some of the discussions above (something most of us N4Moms veterans have little time to do since we are on all of the active PIR groups which takes lots of our time) and I see questions there that should also be asked here on the main PIR board.  SO please remember that so we can help with the answers!   Thanks!

My SR did say that they are a push division once when we were talking. I noticed that others with our PIR said the same so I just assumed that this time of year necessitates push divisions. With four holidays they essentially lose a week of training. I'm not worried though. The Navy knows what they are doing.

Dan- ship 3, div 86 here. How do you get a Nex gift card for them?
Comment by mikesmom on January 14, 2014 at 9:15am

Dan - there are a bunch of us on that ship/div, just scroll up on this page to the discussions.

Good Morning!

The PIR date for the group won't change....never does. Yes, the holidays mess up the schedule a little.  This is the time of year my son was there 4 yrs ago.  If that's not hard enough, they will drop back another day next week because of Monday being a federal holiday.  Again, they will get it all done.  The crazy thing with the count you provided is that they do BattleStations at 6-5 (except for push divisions who go earlier).  Since according to your count for 085/086, they are 3-3 today (Tues), that means they will be 4-2 next Tuesday (due to holiday day loss).  By the Friday, week before PIR, they would only be 5-5.  So looks like the divisions in this PIR group will mostly be "push" divisions, meaning that they have less time to get it all done...but no worries, they get it done!

That is exactly what I was thinking. Processing must have been longer than most of us thought. Then add in all the holidays and we get this DOT. I'm okay just as long as the PIR stays the same. I'm ready to see my boy

VKat, that seems to be what has happened! He said he was in processing for 2 weeks! He is in div 913.

Huskies, my son arrived on the 10th. He was SIQ for a few days but he is not behind. I even looked back at other posts and they all point to today being 3-2. On Saturday 01-04-14 when we got calls both my SR and Josh's mom's SR told us that Monday 01-06-13 would be 2-2. Then on Thursday mikesmom posted that her SR just called and said they were still in week two. Anyway that is 3 different people, two in 085 & one in 086 that have today as 3-2. I agrees that it seems it should be farther along but I guess with all the holidays it's different than we thought

Sheila:  Getting up "early" for them means in the wee hours of Sat. morning!  They are bussed together as a group to wait for flights.  Since your sailor leaves late in the afternoon, you may want to see about renting a room at the OHare Hilton, which is located within the airport, so you can get some rest and have privacy with your sailor and family.  I understand from a dad who attended a previous PIR that they have a "day" rate of $55.  Just a thought!  They really are not supposed to leave the airport to sightsee, etc, once they get there.  USO may tell you they can do this, but be back 3 hrs before flight time.  But just know that if anyone does this and something happens to cause them to miss their flight to A School, not a good thing!

Sounds like he was describing BattleStations to you.  Yes, it is on a mock ship that is extremely realistic, designed with help from the entertainment industry.  They will "encounter" every situation that they could possibly face if deployed.  It is a long night for them (12 hrs)...overnight....and then they are sailors!

By the time they hit their racks the day they finish, 2 hrs earlier than usual, they usually have been up since early morning, the day before, so they have been up for about 38-40 hrs.

Sheila, that IS a lot of information! Thanks for sharing! It makes it seem like graduation is just around the corner!
