Cortney:  Hmmmm......I hope that he doesn't have to open that in front of the RDCs.  Lets hope that it doesn't PLAY when they pass the mail out....he could take some hazing from the RDCs over a recordable card!  We don't suggest you all send those...but hopefully, since you already sent it, it will get through ok and he will enjoy it.  From now on, just send regular cards...no singing or talking ones!  :-)

Thanks, Hurleygirl!  He had been sick (sinus infection) and on light duty, but he said he was going back to full duty this week.  Thanks for the hugs!  :) Looking forward to lots of them on 2/7/14!   Robsproudmom - Will cross my fingers for you too!  Hope you hear from your SR!

Blueforever.. Keeping my fingers crossed he calls tomorrow!  I know that mine missed two calls due to medical.. so it could just be that.  Hugs your way!

Treasure those calls and letters! No calls and one letter the day after Christmas. I send a letter about every other day. Still hoping!

Great News, Hurleygirl!  Guess my SR must be in trouble, since he is in the same Ship/Div, and I didn't hear from him!  Most of the Moms have said their SR has been sick....glad your son is better! Keeping my fingers crossed tomorrow will be my lucky day, and I'll get to hear from my son.  :)

I got a phone call today too!!!  Talk about a happy MOMMA!!!!  Ship 09 Div 088!  He is already sounding different.. and I was so happy that he was feeling better and to hear that he passed some tests and inspections.. Go NAVY!  February cannot get here soon enough!!!

LaLa Ribbon, Well said about writing letters.  My SR told me that they live, eat, breath RTC all day long and really look forward to the destraction of the letters.  He said that they read the jokes out loud to each other.

My guess would be that she received a regular letter like BlueForever stated. There is only one form letter and in most cases it is the first letter the family receives. They do make changes to the guest list about a week or so before PIR so be sure and let your recruit know of any changes to that list. 

Also make sure your ID is current and doesn't expire before you will return from PIR. We had one mom who got to the airport and her ID had expired the day before. She wasn't allowed to board the plane and had to change her flight until later that day and make a dash for the DMV. It was very costly and if she had flown there a few days early she would have been stuck and unable to fly back home. Also check the expiration on car registration and insurance info to make sure those don't expire before or during your trip.

BlueForever, I pray you get your phone call soon. LalaRibbonQueen, I mail out letters, drawings (from her lil siblings), and cards every other day. Then some in our church are writing her too.

Maybe she just meant a regular letter...not something about PIR.  :)
