N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My day is again bright!  Heard from my son!  His phone card didn't work yesterday; and a wonderful guy loaned him his phone card.  He was able to call again today!  :)

They remove the wisdom teeth now if they think there is any danger of problems when they might be deployed on a ship.  They ere on the side of caution!  :-)

The larger manilla envelopes to mail home letters is perfectly fine to send.  The white envelopes we suggest is for regular cards/letters mailed, just in case a RDC has any issues with the colored ones.

I'm going to send him a prepaid flat rate priority mail envelope inside a large white envelope.  On the outside of the white envelope I will write "Envelope for excess letters" so that his RDC will know before he opens it that that is what it is.  He will still have to open it in front of the RDC but shouldn't get into trouble.  Since he is the one who suggested that I send him the envelope I'm sure that they have already ok'd it.

I'm sending the prepaid priority envelope self addressed.  That way all he has to do is put the cards & letters inside and send it back to me.

I used manila envelopes because that was all I can find. I would imagine that the RDCs see this enough that it wouldn't make it bad for them. That's why I added the note. Nothing else was in the envelope but the note explaining the purpose and the envelope.
