my son was a DEPer last year, yes BC for 800 divisions is different. They are constantly busy physically and very very tired. The 800 divisions have evolutions, which include swimming. Keep those letters coming, getting mail is extremely important to them.
I have a son also in BC right now. He says everyone he's with are also SEAL candidates. Will their basic be harder than usual?
Hi,
Thanks for your willingness to answer questions about these recruits who are set on becoming SEALS. My son is only 18, but that's all he wanted to go for. He didn't want to even choose a back up plan. I've watched shows about "making the cut" etc on TV and I can't imagine why he would want to put himself through all that. I just hope that he's doing okay and can handle all the "mental" games they put him through. I really hope he knows what he's doing.
None of them have a back up plan. All part of the grand scheme, lets them stay focused. He will be fine, since they were already prepared for that part before starting. I agree, after reading some of the books I thought he was crazy. Once their mind is set, I dont think anyone can change it.
Hi! My son is there at BC for SWCC. I'm with "lovestocrochet"...my son was actually offended when someone asked him what his "plan B" was. We watched the "Making the Cut" shows, too and I cried when I saw it the first time. I am so proud of my boy, but I just don't know about all the mental stuff...he's in top physical shape, but that mental stuff- oh my!
amen. When I think about all this, it just seems like to much to handle (for me)...I hope my son can handle it all. He is such a sweet young man...very even tempered, patient, funny. I can't imagine him being, in any way, violent. I wonder if he will fit in. He too is in excellent shape and has been preparing physically for months, but he's not a large person, so I wonder if that will make a difference.
loveto crochet it is hard on us moms, even tempered and patience will be a plus for him. I couldnt imagine my son hurting a fly. I wonder if they think that far ahead?
Paula I dont think the mental stuff is all that bad for SWCC once he graduates BC. Its just because he is in with SEAL candidates now.
Glad to have found this group. our son is 2weeks into bootcamp. Tired and homesick according to the last letters recieved just before Christmas. I know down deep he's got what it takes. Praying that he'll hang tough. I can't wait to recieve a more upbeat letter from him.....it will do this mother good.
I've only received one written letter so far...he's been there for 3 weeks now...I hope he got some of my letters, especially by Christmas.
