Thanks Tee-1sailor's mom. I appreciate any information. I know the SWCC guys are a much smaller group, so it takes a few BCs to get a class. So, if I bring him his phone (as he requested), he should be able to have it after PIR, since he will not be an SR any longer? That will make a difference for everyone.
Paula, and what a difference that will make. Its wonderful.
You're welcome Paula. I thought I had posted this but then I didn't see it. They don't get to keep their phones or anything until BC officially ends, which isn't until a couple of days into the next week after PIR. It's a bummer, but when you leave that weekend they can't keep anything you've brought for them. Some folks rent a storage for them or just mail their stuff once they get settled into a new barrks. Hey, PIR is getting close!!
Thanks, sjtina. Yes, I was hoping to get an idea of a timeline (not necessarily an exact time accounting) of what's next. Probably getting ahead of myself, but it's less scary for me if I have an idea of what to expect.
Good morning all of you! Your time is getting shorter and shorter now :) Just a reminder....my son is currently in preBUD/S at GL and was part of Class 2 9 4. It is looking more and more like he won't be heading out SD with his original class due to an injury. So he may be joining the class your sons/husbands/boyfriends will eventually become; most likely 2 9 5. There are SEAL candidates graduating on the 3rd and then your guys!! So I'm assuming they will eventually become the next Class preparing to go to SD. If that is indeed the case; I will get a private group going for us. If you haven't already, you might want to check out the group here on N4M for preBUD/S moms. There are links on that group for all the Classes as they are formed. There are usually some veteran moms on them as well to help answer questions and to give encouragement.
I hope these next 2 weeks "fly by" for all of you!
Take Care
Hi everyone, I am new to this site so I hope I'm not doing this wrong lol. My fiance's PIR is schedules for 2/10/12 (7 days away!!) and he is Division 805. I was just looking for any pointers for my trip next week, maybe some ideas of what to expect then and in the future.
I got a letter today from him and he said it will probably be his last which is so great to hear! I am traveling solo and pretty nervous as silly as that sounds, I am flying into Milwaukee and driving a rental car to the Residence Inn Waukegan. I would love to maybe meet up with some of you, doing this alone is kind of tricky!
Thank you :-)
Nice place erica, that is where I stayed at my son's PIR. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Hi ericalynn,
So glad you found us. My son is in 805. We are going to the Ramada Inn. Planning on riding the Ramada Inn shuttle the day of PIR. We plan to attend the Ramada Inn M&G. I've actually considered going to Sarge's M&G. The 805 famlies have chosen to wear Sky Blue (NC Tar Heels color) scaves the day of PIR. We have told our SR's to look for Sky Blue in the stands.
I've been looking at Metra routes and things to do in Chicago......tricky and scary for me.
Hopefully, we will be getting GREAT calls 2nite =D & I look forward to meeting
Hi Ericalynn,
Welcome to the site. The folks here are such a help, now and in the future. I'm sure there will be ladies here glad to guide you through your new life with your soon to be sailor.
JK- I received my son's "last letter" to me today and he confirmed what was mentioned earlier- their Division will have BS-21 Monday, so we'll get our "Sailor" calls next week. He said tomorrow was their last big test and they are going through Firefighting still this week.
JK be careful with the train, especially if they have to be back at a certain time. The train could be full and you may have to wait for the next one, or technical problems. I think it is a great way to get to Chicago, but allow plenty of time. They have to be back in their bldg by 8? not just the base. The line of cars for dropping off can be slow, my son and others were getting out at the curb and walking so they wouldnt be late. If one person is late it cause problems for liberty for the rest of them. We drove to Chicago and traffic was horrible. I had one nervous sailor in the back seat. lol
Hi Erica. There is a great facebook page also for families of 2/10 graduates. It is a closed group but you will be able to join. http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/311622992201384/339014816128868/?...
Lots of great info about PIR and life beyond for those of us in 805!
Please let me know if you have any problems finding it or getting in.
We are wearing sky blue scarves and black ribbons with gold lettering for PIR. This is totally optional of course ;).
Welcome!
ericalynn, post on the main wall and ask who is staying at the Residence Inn Waukegan...you won't be the only one! They are great there!! Sigh up at the desk when you check in for the very first shuttle on PIR morning. It is free.
