For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Thanks for the understanding and insight of having been here. I contemplated cleaning my son's room this week. It needs it! I may be able to do that without getting all emotional. I am a huge newspaper reader, so the idea of sending clippings is good. Thanks!

Correct....No News IS Good News!!! That's what I keep telling myself. PIR day will BE so GREAT!!!! Can't wait!!!!! So in the meantime, I've looked at the Flylady.com website......Cleaning our house in zones with all of this nervous energy I've got.

I dont think they get over being homesick or tired, poor guys really do have it rough. 4AM starts really take a toll on them. Its such a long day. Just think its 2 weeks shorter until you see him. The letters should start getting a little more upbeat the closer it gets to PIR.
I forgot to mention earlier that they get no TV or radio, so sending newspaper clips helps them to keep up with what is going on in the world.

Does this gut wrenching feeling for mom ever get better? Our sons letter indicated that he's getting up way before 4, working out all day. Then starring at a block wall for 4 hrs. In my last letter I told him to stay focused...No Matter What.

It will get so much better after PIR for both of you. He will have down time and you will be able to call or text him every night.
My son told me they had to bird watch through a frosted window for hours. I always wondered who comes up with this stuff.
Stay focused is geat advice. One day at a time.

I have not heard about this bird watching thing or staring at brick walls...what's that about? I didn't know they had to get up as early as 4 either...I thought it would be about 5 or 6, not earlier than 5 for sure....is it really 4? Is this just for DIV 805...or common throughout boot camp?

lovestocrochet that is what time the 800 division starts, someone posted even earlier.
The bird watching and brick wall staring is mentally trying to get them to work as a team. If someone talks or moves it will last longer. Weeds out the ones who are not serious about being there.

Hello, any of you other loved ones of SEAL/SWCC PIR 02/10/2012! I already feel comfort to know this group exists! Just beginning to understand their schedule at Boot Camp, and how to prepare for our trip out for graduation. So much to learn. I will be checking in often to see whats posted here for us to share together. Thank you all. MamaBear.

I just made my reservations to stay at the Navy Lodge (learned about that option on this site) for PIR 2/10/12. That's a wonderful choice for folks trying to see their kids without spending a fortune.

Paul if I had it to do over, I would of stayed at the Navy Lodge and saved myself some money. Its not fancy, but it is clean. The past 800 divisions that I know of have not had overnight visits PIR weekend. They had to be back each night.

sitina, I read that I had to have him back by a certain time, so no illusions of him staying with us. My understanding is he may very well ship to his A school in Coronado the day after PIR. I want to see him before he heads on to the next "adventure", even if it's a brief time.
